Charlotte POV:

Monday came by so fast with a promise of a busy school week ahead. I was at my locker getting ready for my next class when Marima stood next to me. "Hey Char! You getting ready for class?" she said with a smile plastered on her face. "Uhm, let me check my busy schedule" I pretended to check my notebook as if it was a planner and continued "I don't have any meetings or agendas lined up today, oh wait I forgot, we're in highschool so yeah I guess I'm going to class."

Marima let out an exasperated sigh, clearly not amused by my sarcasm. "I was just asking because Mew wanted to meet up with us later to read lines for the upcoming play", she looked at me waiting for a reply. "Fine, I'm free after my literature class. I'll just meet up with you at the auditorium" I said to her before walking myself to my next class.

The bell rang signalling the end of class. Everyone packed and ran out of the classroom as fast as they could.

I was walking to my locker and saw a familiar face going the opposite way. She didn't have her crutches anymore but she still has her knee brace and was bit limping as she walked. She still exudes confidence that is unmatched even in the current state that she's in. Her hair was perfectly bouncing as she walked.

I stopped and looked at her, she glanced at me for a split second then continued walking. I felt a pang of disappointment, but I straightened up and continued walking. Why Charlotte? Are you expecting her to say hi to you? You're not friends so stop acting like a lost puppy when she doesn't acknowledge you. I mentally told myself.

I reached the auditorium where Marima and Mew were already waiting. "I thought you'd never come" Marima said.

"Hi Char, so glad you agreed to read lines with us" Mew smiled and moved close to me. "Actually, I need to go, I've got a date with Patrick. I just waited for Char so you could have a reading partner" Marima got up and gathered her things. "Bye guys, see you tomorrow!" she said with a smirk, and before I could object, she left hurriedly.

Mew looked at me still smiling "So I guess it's just the two of us then". I smiled back at him and opened my script. "So, which scene do you want to read through?" I asked. "Hmmm.. I was thinking, do the part where Landon and Jess are about to confess their feelings for each other?" Mew answered with a hopeful smile. That scene was intense and I was wondering why he wanted to start with that part straight away. "Don't you think that scene is way too intense to start with?" I asked while reading through the script. "I think it's perfect so we can easily go through the other scenes after this!" he explained. "Okay, let's try it then" I just agreed.

We started reading through our lines and everything was going well. Both of us were in character, "I don't care if people will judge us. They don't matter because for me, the only person that matters in this universe is you. That is how much I love you" Mew stood up and offered his hand to me, urging me to stand with him. I looked up not expecting him to act his character as I thought we were only reading lines. I took his hand and stood up facing him. He suddenly hugged me and said his last lines, "Be mine? Give us a chance and be mine, that's all I ask". I was about to answer when we both got startled by a noise coming from the backstage.

I looked at the figure standing there, eyes staring directly at me and then to Mew. It was Engfa. She was looking at us with a mixture of surprise, curiosity, and ire. I suddenly got out of Mew's embrace. Everything felt awkward as silence enveloped us for a few moments until Engfa gave us one last glare then turned around and left as if she was disgusted with what she saw. I let out a sigh while Mew said "What was that about?"-- he was just as confused as I am.
