Long Chapter Ahead Cupcakes
Also wishing y'all and your families a very happy choti diwali"And that's the last of it," I sighed with a mix of relief and excitement, zipping up my suitcase and tossing it into the back of the car. It was officially the wedding week-AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! The day had finally arrived, and today we were flying to Ajmer for the rituals.
"Anika, how much longer?" I called, drumming my fingers on the side of the car, waiting for her to finish.
"Just a minutteee. Now turn and look," Ruhanika sing-songed from behind me. I spun around and nearly burst out laughing. Lolo, now sporting a tiny hoodie and even tinier sunglasses, looked like he was ready to walk the runway.
"Aww, my little man looks so handsome!" I cooed, scooping him up and pressing a kiss to his furry head. Lolo blinked in that slow, satisfied way only a cat can, clearly enjoying the attention. While Ruhanika packed her last few bags into the trunk, I adjusted my cardigan over my tennis skirt and top, feeling both comfortable and cute in the casual fit. My hair was styled in loose braids, and I'd armed myself with shades to dodge the inevitable media frenzy at the airport.
Why did they always swarm like that? It was like they couldn't resist turning every moment into a spectacle.
Ruhanika hopped into the passenger seat, flashing me a theatrically exasperated look. "Aashu, you're taking ages! We'll miss our flight at this rate."
(A/n : me after I'm last to get dressed and first in the car)
I rolled my eyes. "I'm the one taking ages? Says the girl who dressed her cat for a photoshoot!"
She laughed, and I joined in, the sound filling the car with warmth. It felt good, this moment-being with my best friend on the cusp of a new chapter.
At the airport, however, the quiet vanished as we navigated the endless security checks, barely managing to dodge the circus of flashing cameras. Anxiety bubbled up as the media swarmed, even poor Lolo wasn't spared. He peered around, wide-eyed, snuggling closer as I rubbed his head soothingly.
"They act like we're headed to a royal coronation," I muttered, trying to keep my cool.
Ruhanika smirked. "Not coronation, but definitely a royal wedding. And you know those vultures will use this footage in about 25 different ways, for at least a day."
(A/n : now random telly channels will make news on how shadi se pehle hua aashu aur shriyan ka divorce. Dono dikhe alag alag)
"Great. Can't wait for that," I huffed.
Nearby, a familiar argument was brewing. "Really, Ipsi?" Ishaan's exasperated voice cut through the noise. "Three backup purses? You do not need that many."
