Dragon P.O.V

I leave the zoo in a good mood and make my way to Clearwater High. It is already dark and only a few street lamps light the way, but that is no problem for me. Black dragons can see in the dark.

Suddenly I hear a noise. I alertly stretch out all my senses to determine the direction from which the noise came. And also to avoid alerting a possible pursuer by an unusual movement, such as looking around, that I suspect he is following me.

Shortly afterwards I notice that someone is walking behind me, some distance away. I don't know exactly what he has with him, but the fact that he is running after me makes me suspect that he wants to attack me. And people who attack others almost always have weapons with them.

I walk into one of the many dead ends. Robbers often wait until the person they want to attack makes a mistake, such as walking into a dead end.

There is a lot of graffiti on the walls. Many of them show "anti-constitutional symbols" or whatever humans call them. Otherwise, the houses that make up this alley are pretty run down. Probably no one has lived in them or renovated them for a long time.

I walk to the wall of the house at the end of the dead end. The robber is still quite a way behind me. In fact, he has only just arrived at the dead end and from this distance and in these poor lighting conditions, he can't see me at all. I climb up the wall of the house and then to a balcony, where I sit down.

The robber finally reaches the end of the dead end. Confident of victory, he pulls a dagger out of his pocket, the silver blade of which flashes in the night.„Now you're dead!”I hear him say in a rough voice.

Apparently he's not a robber after all, but a murderer! I'd be interested to know if he's a contract killer!

But when he sees that I'm not standing at the end of the dead end, he stops. "What the...! Where are you?" he obviously asked me a question, but it looked more like he was asking the wall of the house, which was covered in graffiti.

For a few seconds I watch the man looking around, visibly confused, then I jump from the balcony. Luckily, black dragons can move silently, so the man doesn't notice.

Unfortunately for him!

I make a dagger appear in my hand. Then I sneak up behind the man and hold the dagger to his neck with a quick movement, giving him no time to defend himself.

"Put your weapon down and don't scream, otherwise I'll kill you," I hiss in the man's ear. The man drops the dagger with shaking hands.„Good. Now turn around slowly." I put the dagger back in my pocket and move back a little to give the man some space.

The man turns around. I can see fear of death in his eyes. Beads of sweat are on his forehead. His whole body is shaking.

"Why are you so scared?„I ask a little more kindly.„You have a dagger.”‚ the man answers in a slightly scared but very confident voice.

"If that's what's bothering you..." I begin my sentence and take my dagger out of my pocket again. The man flinches briefly. He probably thinks that I want to kill him now. But I simply stretch out my arm and let the dagger fall.„...then I'll just put it away," I finish my sentence.

The man visibly breathes a sigh of relief.„Why did you want to kill me?”I ask him. The man smiles at me now.„Why should I tell you that?"

I get so close to the man that my nose almost touches his.„It's very simple. Even without a dagger, I can still kill you or hurt you. Now tell me why you wanted to kill me."

The man thinks for a few seconds. About whether he should tell me or not. But even before he starts speaking, I know that he will tell me. People generally do anything not to die.

„I wanted to kill you because you are the greatest danger to us humans, Dragon.” the man replies.”You know who I am?” I ask the man, surprised.„Of course I do. Contract killers always know about their victims.”„If you already know who I am, the hood is no longer necessary," I say, pulling the hood off my head. My light blonde, straight hair falls over my shoulder.„Who is your client?”

"I won't tell you. Even if you threaten to kill me," the man says, smiling. He is confident of victory. He really thinks I would just give up and let him go. But he was very wrong. I say, smiling. "I can't threaten to kill you, but I can threaten to torture you.”

Then I pull a chain with a green stone hanging from it out of my trouser pocket.  The man looks at me in shock. He seems to know about the additional spells that I can use with this chain.

I can use this chain to take away other black dragons' magical powers, just like I did with that traitor James. However, I also have control over my body. I can use it to move others like puppets.

I put the chain on. Green flames immediately appear in my eyes, but they disappear again immediately. "That always feels nice," I sigh.

Then I turn back to the man, concentrate on him, block out everything else and open my right hand.

The man immediately stiffens. Now he can no longer move on his own. From now on, his muscles obey me. Only me, no one else!

I close my hand. The man doubles over in pain. "Now you'd better tell me who commissioned you, otherwise this torment will never end."

"Marlon..." the man groans. "And what next? The man must have a last name." I ask, loosening my grip a little to give the man room to breathe.

"...Kowalski! Marlon Kowalski!" the man replies.„Why not just like that? Why do I always have to get angry first?" I now release the grip completely so that the man can now move on his own again. But the first thing the man does is collapse to the ground and stay there for a few minutes.

After he has stood up again, I say:„Now go. And don't dare to tell anyone about this except your client.”The man hurries to get away.

I leave the dead end again.

Then I go back to Clearwater High. As I enter the schoolyard, an owl flies towards me. “Intruder!” she screams in her mind.

I thought owls could see at night.

Annoyed, I turn my teeth into sharp fangs and roar at the owl. Startled, the owl rises back up into the sky. The gust of wind created by its wings sweeps my hair back.

I go into the schoolhouse and back to our room.

Saphira is already waiting for me there.„Hey, Saphira. Where is Tempest?” „Hunting. Where were you?” „I went for a walk and visited the Sunny Meadows zoo.” „And?” „That’s a prison for shifters and I met a new ally there. He hates humans too and will help us defeat the humans.”

I walk up and down the room. “Fortunately, I know where the best place to attack people is. How they gained their power. If I destroy the source of this power, it will be very easy to kill them one by one.”

I stop and turn to Saphira.„Do you have a lighter?”„Yes. Why?”„That's good. And do you have petrol?”„Why should I have...? Wait a minute! Lighter and petrol? What are you planning?”„You'll find out.”

I go back to the door, but Saphira stands in my way.„Dragon. I know what people have done to you. That's bad, I know. You want humans to pay for what they did to you, I can understand that, but I also know that it's wrong. Even if you kill all the humans, you still won't feel any happiness. For the simple reason that it won't undo what happened. Dragon, please listen to me.”

„Well, then I won’t do it.”
