Carag P.O.V
I walk out of the ballroom. Luckily I know where Dragon's room is. I absolutely have to know what she meant earlier in the ballroom when she said that the loss of someone she loved is the reason why she hates people. It's not entirely normal to hate everyone just because you've lost someone.
When I'm almost at Dragon's room, I hesitate for a moment. What I want to find out is probably something that she doesn't tell everyone, and especially not just any people. And she made it clear to me back then in the palace that I count as a person to her.
But finally my curiosity wins out and I go to Dragon's room. Where the door should be, there are just a few wooden boards.
Dragon sits on one of the beds and stares into space. Next to her lies a small pile of broken glass.
"Sit next to me," says Dragon. I climb over the pile of boards, go to her and sit next to her. Dragon slides a little to the side so I have more space.
"Was that..." I point to the pile of broken pieces, "...your cell phone?" "Yes, that was it," Dragon answers. "Why did you break it?" I ask carefully. "When I'm angry, I always have to destroy something. And this time it was the cell phone."
"Why were you angry?" I ask. Dragon now turns to me and looks directly at me. But I don't know if that's good or bad.
"Did you miss something earlier? Because of that girl, of course."‚ says Dragon.
"I noticed that. I just wanted to make sure that was really the case."
"You're lying," says Dragon. I look at her in surprise. "What do you mean?" "You didn't come for that. So, what do you really want from me?"
"If you already know that I just lied to you, then you probably already know what I really want."
"Yes, but I want to hear that from you again. Back in the palace, I also wanted to know what you really did in Saphira's house. Even though I already knew because I read your thoughts."
"What did you mean when you said that you hate people because you lost someone you loved?"
"What I said. What else?"
"I mean, there's definitely more to it than that. After all, you don't just hate all people just because you lost someone you loved."
"Andrew Milling hates people too," Dragon answers without pulling a face. This one sentence actually makes me pause.
"How do you know Andrew Milling?" I ask, surprised.
"I first heard about him the day before Andrew escaped from the Sunny Meadows Zoo. Because you and Holly talked about him. I was the one who freed him. We're working together," Dragon replies, smiling.
"Good. But what exactly does the loss of someone you loved have to do with your hatred of people?"
"You wanted to ask why exactly I hate people, right?" Dragon asks with a slight smile.
"If I say yes now, you'll get angry again. You wanted to kill me last time and you probably would have succeeded if Saphira hadn't stopped you. And this time Saphira isn't here, which means you'd probably really kill me," I reply.
"Maybe. Maybe not. You'll only find out if you say it now." Dragon replies.
"Yes. That's what I wanted to ask." I answer and prepare myself to fend off an attack from Dragon.
"Is everything OK, Carag?" Dragon asks calmly. "Yes. I just thought you were going to attack me again." I say and relax again.
"Are you going to answer my question now?" I ask Dragon.„Yes. But before that, I have to ask you something."„And that is?"„You know this "stream of images" that Woodwalkers can use to see what another Woodwalker is seeing, right?" "Yes."
