Sometimes when I read,
I forget how to breathe.
I'm just scrolling through the pages,
Like I've done for ages.
The words are just so captivating,
Which makes me start daydreaming.
That's when I get lost,
That's the price it costs.
I'm seeing people in my head,
From the book I'm reading in my bed.
They start talking to me,
About how they wish it would be.
I never know what to say,
Yet they come here everyday.
I'm just silent, not speaking,
And on the inside, I'm freaking.
Then all of a sudden, I wake up,
And it hurts like I've been through a breakup.
Someone just called my name,
And the characters disappeared as fast as they came.
I'm all alone again, they're gone,
I can't undo what they've done.
I won't see them again, not anymore,
I finished the book, and now my heart feels sore.
I guess I'll make new friends, soon,
I'm starting a new book by noon.
But still, the ones I'll miss,
Are those who'll never able to kiss.
Here we go again, a new book,
I fell in love after just one look.
I know it will hurt like torture,
When I finish the book in the future.
All over again, this game,
Still, it doesn't feel the same.
Again, I forget how to breathe,
But for now, just let me read.
