My gaze followed Vaidehi as she headed toward her room. I trailed behind her, but Dadi interrupted.
Rukiye Arjun!! Dadi commanded. (Stop Arjun!!)
I turned toward her, and she settled into the sofa like a queen.
"Who told Rudra to kidnap Kaavya?" she asked, her eyes narrowing.
My expression turned stern. "I did."
Dadi clenched her jaw, about to speak, when Rudra entered from outside. Our eyes met, and he stood beside me.
Dadi scolded, "Arjun, you're wrong. If you wanted to marry Vaidehi, you could have. No one would object. But kidnapping Kaavya and then marrying Vaidehi is wrong."
I revealed, "Rajesh and Neeta aren't Vaidehi's biological parents."
The room fell silent, shocked.
Maa spoke up, "Their treatment of Vaidehi hinted they didn't like her, but we didn't know they weren't her real parents."
Papa inquired, "Who are Vaidehi's real parents?"
"I don't know," I replied.
Dadi and Rudra echoed in unison, their tone laced with suspicion, "Really?"
I met their gazes, my tone matter-of-fact. "I don't know. If I did, why would I hide it?"
Dadi taunted, You informed us about this scandal didn't you
I smiled wryly. "Some things are better left unsaid."
Dadi's eyes narrowed. "But still, why kidnap Kaavya and then marry Vaidehi?"
I took a deep breath, my tone serious, "If we sent a proposal for Vaidehi, they would reject it. They want Kaavya to marry me, not Vaidehi. And if I forced their hand, they would harm Vaidehi too. She's endured enough torture, enough pain, and enough suffering at their hands. I won't let them hurt her again."
Dadi sighed, her expression softening. "We didn't know it was this bad."
Rudra's eyes darkened. "What did they do to her?"
I clenched my jaw, memories of Vaidehi's trembling hand and cuts flashing in my mind. "Enough. Just know it's over now."
Maa intervened, "Arjun, we understand your intentions, but-"
Papa interrupted, "Enough. We'll discuss this later. Now, let's focus on Vaidehi's well-being."
Chachi asked, "Where's Vaidehi?"
Saanvi replied, "Bhabhi is in her room, she's looking upset...
Maa questioned, "Does Vaidehi know Rajesh and Neeta aren't her parents?"
"No, she's unaware. And no one will tell her," I emphasized.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Maa instructed, "Bring Vaidehi downstairs. The first rasoi ritual remains."
