The message wasn't just words-it was a picture.
A photo of him. Of them.
My breath hitched as I stared at the screen, my eyes widening in disbelief. He was there, in her arms. Lavanya. Her hands tangled in his hair, his lips on hers, their bodies pressed together as though nothing else mattered.
My chest tightened, my fingers trembling as I scrolled. Another photo. And another. Each one was worse than the last, showing me the truth I never wanted to see. They were together, laughing, touching, kissing-like I never existed.
Tears spilled freely now, hot and relentless, streaking my face as a sob escaped my throat. The phone slipped from my hand, landing on the bed with a soft thud, but the images were already burned into my mind.
"No," I whispered, shaking my head. "No, no, no... he wouldn't. He couldn't."
But he did.
The man who promised me forever, who looked into my eyes and swore I was his everything, had betrayed me. And not with just anyone. With her. Lavanya-the woman who had always been too close, too perfect, too calculating.
"I hate him," I whispered, my voice trembling with anger and heartbreak. "I hate him."
The darkness of the room seemed to press in closer, amplifying the ache in my chest. I clenched the sheets beneath me, my knuckles white, as I fought to steady my breathing. But no matter how much I tried, the pain wouldn't go away.
My gaze drifted back to the phone. It vibrated again, another notification lighting up the screen. My heart lurched as I reached for it, terrified of what I might see next.
This time, it was a message:
Now you got the proof, Divorce him!!
The sender was lavanya
My hands shook as I read the message over and over, the words searing into my mind. The truth. What truth? Hadn't the photos already shown me everything?
My chest tightened as a fresh wave of anger surged through me. I grabbed the phone, swiping to his contact. My thumb hovered over the call button, my mind torn between wanting answers and fearing what he would say.
Finally, I pressed it. The phone rang, each tone like a countdown to the explosion brewing inside me.
But he didn't pick up the call i called again but he didn't pick i called him multiple time but he didn't pick up any calls.
The phone slipped from my hand again, landing on the floor with a hollow thud. My breathing was shallow, the ache in my chest unbearable. Outside, the sky roared with thunder, and heavy rain began pelting against the windows. The sound of the storm filled the suffocating silence in the room, but it couldn't drown out the chaos inside me.
I wrapped my arms around myself, shivering as if the coldness of the rain outside had seeped into me. The storm mirrored the turmoil within me perfectly-wild, relentless, and unforgiving.
