I
stepped into the garden, the night air calming my mind. I held the note, its words searing my heart: "The person mentioned as precious is none other than Vaidehi." With a flicker, I lit the lighter, watching the paper dissolve into ashes.
The gardener approached. "Hukum sa, you're out here tonight?"
"Nothing, go to sleep," I replied.
I messaged Rudra: "Don't sleep, I'm coming," but my thoughts were elsewhere. I needed some peace, so I returned to my room to see her.
She stood before the mirror, applying lotion. I wrapped my arms around her waist from behind, pulling her close. Her soft skin warmed my chest. She gasped, startled.
I inhaled deeply, capturing her jasmine fragrance. "Never ever leave me, Cherry," I whispered, lips grazing her ear.
I pulled back, gazing into cherry innocent face. Her purity mesmerized me, yet her presence ignited a burning desire. Our eyes locked, confusion dancing in hers. I caressed her cheeks with my thumb.
"In this world, you alone can bring me to my knees," I whispered, voice trembling. "You have the power to destroy me. Without you, I'm nothing. You're my sunshine, calm, and sanctuary. My irreversible addiction."
Her silence was deafening. Then, she tiptoed, wrapping her arms around my neck. I enveloped her, lifting her off the ground. Her fragrance filled my lungs, soothing my racing heart.
The door swung open, and Cherry pushed me away. I sighed, seeing Rudra's amused face.
Rudra chuckled. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't see anything."
I shot back, "Why didn't you knock?"
Rudra grinned. "Maaf kariye, Maharaj." (Sorry, Your Highness.)
I shook my head. "Leave."
As Rudra departed, I turned to Jaana. Her face burned with embarrassment.
I kissed her forehead. "Sleep, I'll be back in an hour."
She nodded, and i left the room.... . . . .
I entered Rudra's room, finding him puffing on a cigarette. He hastily crushed it, noticing my arrival. I settled into the couch, closing my eyes to collect my thoughts.
Rudra interrupted, "Bhai, kuch hua hai?" (Brother, what's wrong?)
I inhaled deeply, opening my eyes. I retrieved a cigar from the side drawer, lit it, and exhaled slowly.
"I received a threat," I admitted, blowing smoke into the air.
Rudra's frown deepened. "So what, bhai? You get thousands yearly."
I took another puff. "This one's different. It's about Vaidehi."
Rudra chuckled. "Kisko apni maut pyaari ho gyi?" (Who's seeking their own death?)
