The engagement party was over, but the storm between Felix and Hyunjin had only just begun to brew. Their families, oblivious to the tension beneath the surface, were elated with how the evening had turned out. Mr. and Mrs. Lee, along with Hyunjin's parents, were already making plans for the newly engaged couple.
"Why don't our love-birds go on a nice date?" Mrs. Lee suggested over brunch the next day, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "You both deserve a little time to relax after last night's event."
Felix, sitting quietly with his hands clasped in his lap, glanced briefly at Hyunjin. They hadn't spoken much since the engagement party-Hyunjin had gone straight to his house after mingling with the guests, and Felix had spent the night curled up in bed, his thoughts tangled in the overwhelming emotions that had surfaced.
Hyunjin, sensing the unspoken question in Felix's gaze, nodded politely to his mother. "That sounds nice" he agreed, though his voice lacked feelings. He still wasn't sure how to break through the icy wall Felix had built between them, and the thought of a date, under normal circumstances exciting, now felt like another obligation.
"Dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel, How does that sound?" Mr. Hwang added suggesting one of his luxury hotels for the couples date. "I've already made reservations for you both."
Felix managed a faint smile, feeling the pressure of expectations once more. He didn't argue. It would be easier to go along with what their parents wanted than to resist. Besides, maybe this date could help ease the tension, even if he doubted it.
The Royal Garden Hotel was the epitome of elegance. Its grand architecture and lavish decor screamed wealth and status, with glittering chandeliers and marble floors stretching as far as the eye could see. The hotel's restaurant, renowned for its five-star dining experience, was perched at the top floor, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline.
Felix and Hyunjin were seated at a private table near the window, the flickering candlelight casting soft shadows on their faces. The atmosphere was undeniably romantic, but the silence between them was palpable.
Felix, dressed in a sleek, dark blue suit that highlighted his delicate features, stared out at the city below, his fingers nervously fiddling with the edge of his napkin. Hyunjin, on the other hand, sat across from him, his expression unreadable as he scanned the menu.
"Do you want to order something special?" Hyunjin asked, his voice cutting through the silence. His gaze flickered over Felix, but there was no warmth in his tone-just the formality that had become their norm.
Felix shook his head slightly. "I'm fine with whatever you choose" he replied softly, his emotionless voice. He wasn't hungry, not for food at least. His heart ached for something else, something he doubted Hyunjin would ever give him.
The waiter came and went, and soon they were left alone once more. Felix stared down at his wine glass, swirling the crimson liquid around, trying to focus on anything but the growing void between them.
But before he could sink further into his thoughts, a sudden voice interrupted the quiet evening.
"Well, isn't this a surprise?"
A tall, broad-shouldered alpha in an expensive suit had wandered over to their table, clearly tipsy from the way he swayed slightly on his feet. His eyes, glassy with alcohol, roved over Felix with an intensity that made Felix's skin crawl.
"I couldn't help but notice you from across the room" the alpha slurred, his voice dripping with poorly concealed lust. "What's a beautiful omega like you doing here all alone?"
Felix's stomach twisted with discomfort, but before he could respond, Hyunjin's low, dangerous growl cut through the air.
"He's not alone, as you can see." Hyunjin's voice was sharp, his eyes narrowing as he stood up, positioning himself between Felix and the drunken alpha. The shift in his demeanor was immediate-gone was the distant, composed man from moments before. In his place stood a protective, possessive alpha whose every muscle was coiled with tension.
