"The flame that burns inside of me
I'm hearing secret harmonies."
"Lucy. Give in, Lucy."
"It's too early for this shit, fuck off buddy."
Lucy Harrington shook off the voice in her head as her Doc Martens slammed against the floor one by one. It was common for the girl to be seen in combat boots, accompanied by light blue ripped jeans and a denim jacket. Her t-shirt could only just be seen through it, a symbol on the white shirt: THE HELLFIRE CLUB.
So much had changed; Lucy wasn't sure if it was for the better or not.
Firstly, Lucy Harrington had gotten...a little fiery. Years of build-up anxiety and fear had somehow muddled into a form of lack of care. She'd adapted like any other specifics or human would, to a world that wasn't made for the old version of her.
Her language had gotten worse after spending too much time with Dustin, the curse words seemingly leaving her without even thinking about it. Her soft voice had begun to disappear, a more authoritative tone taking its place. She was constantly seen with her headphones on, blasting some type of rock band.
The group had fallen apart. Lucas seemed more distant than ever after joining the basketball team; Max was being distant; Eleven and Will were in California. Things weren't the same.
"Look, I'm not saying my girlfriend is better than yours...it's just that, Lucy's saved the world and is like...a gorgeous genius."
"El saved the world too! Twice!"
"And yet you still have a C in Spanish."
Lucy moved to stand next to Dustin, giving him a suspicious look after overhearing his conversation. He gave her a wink, to which Lucy sighed. She was late to the pep rally because she was too busy trying to change Dustin's grade with Suzie.
"Hey, you good?" Dustin whispered in her ear. "You look like you haven't slept again."
"Yeah, fine," Lucy replied then paused. "Nightmare."
Nightmares were a nightly even now. Over and Over again until Lucy would explain the events of Starcourt Mall as it had happened two minutes ago. Most of them ending with Lucy alone in a creepy house, a clock chiming as she forced herself awake. She distracted herself from it, it was easier that way.
The brunette wasn't a fan of high school or basketball though, it would always be more inconvenience than a distraction. She was only there to support Lucas. Lucy didn't like any of the basketball team, they could be rather nasty, but some of the cheerleaders were nice. Still, she'd rather be at home.
