~ Chapter One ~
" only the beginning "

FOUR YEARS AGO...

Out of all the cabins at Camp Half-Blood, Cabin Eleven looked the most like a regular old-school camp cabin, with the emphasis on old.

Inside the cabin, there were way more kids than bunk beds. Sleeping bags were laid out all over the floor.

Percy Jackson stood in the doorway, looking at the kids, who all stared at him, judging him, sizing him up.

"Well?" Annabeth, the girl in charge of showing him around, gestured towards the doorway. "Go on."

Taking a deep breath, he entered the cabin, tripping as he went.

Some kids snickered, but no one said anything.

Annabeth sighed, before announcing. "Percy Jackson, meet Cabin Eleven."

"Claimed or Unclaimed?"

"Unclaimed." Annabeth answered making everyone groan.

"Now, now, campers." A new voice spoke up as a boy little older than the rest walked up. "That's what we're here for. Welcome to camp Percy, I'm Luke, I'm gonna be your head counselor for now."

Before Percy could question what that meant, he noticed a familiar girl sitting on one of the bunks behind Luke, an orange cat in her lap as she read a book.

"Hey, it's my dream girl." He stupidly said out loud, remembering seeing the girl when he was in and out of consciousness.

Luke turned to see who he was pointing at before giving Percy a look that had the boy taking a small step back. "That's my sister."

Annabeth snickered behind him as he mumbled "Oh..." Glancing at the girl who was too engrossed in what she was reading to notice what was happening just five feet away. "Your sister's pretty..."

He really needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.

Later that day he found himself sitting at the Hermes table, or more like trying not to fall off the Hermes table, Percy couldn't help but glance around looking for the Dream Girl, he really needed to learn her name so he could stop calling her that, he hadn't seen her since that morning, not even at training though according to Luke and his friend, Chris, she was in fact there and he just didn't see her.

"What are you looking for?" one of the other campers asked.

"Nothing." He quickly answered, turning back to his food.

Looking around the table once more, he finally saw her standing next to Luke showing him something in her hands that him giving her a confused look before he gestured to the table as he spoke to her, making the girl roll her eyes at him before she looked around for a spot to sit, and the only somewhat available spot was across from him.

Turning back to his food he tried to ignore the girl as she sat down across from him, but he couldn't help but notice how she kept looking at something in her hands and curiosity got the best of him, leaning forward a bit to see her hands he looked at her wide eyed when he saw the small creature.

"Is that a snake?" He questioned, looking at the curled-up snake in surprise.

Dream Girl jumped in her seat as she looked up at him, looking at him in surprise, as she held the snake closely to her chest, as if afraid he might try and take it. "Yes?"
