A Violins Song

~ Chapter Twelve ~ Dinner with the Dragoneels

As Lucy comes out of the closet((Not in that way people,)) she finds the house quiet. Any of the previous yelling was silenced. Lucy wiped her eyes fora couple of frightened tears escaped and fell onto her cheeks. The fighting scared Lucy more than she will let on. Suddenly the blanket was torn from above her and she got ready to fight by putting her fists up. 

"Luce, it's just me." Natsu says in a calming voice. She looks up to meet his gaze. Whilst looking into his onyx eyes, Lucy feels her emotional walls break and she begins to cry. Sobs racked her body as she held onto Natsu for support. These tears were sadness mixed with happy tears. Sad that he had to deal with her problems, and happy tears that it was all finally over. "Shh Luce. I'm here for you. Always here for you." He whispered into her hair as he stroked it lovingly. The kept in that position for a while until Lucy calmed down enough. She looked up at him and Natsu burst out laughing.
"Luce, your eyes-look-like-raccoon's!!!" He said between laughs. Lucy wiped under her eyes to get rid of the mascara smudges. She gave out a couple laughs too.

"All better?" She asked. "Do I still look like a raccoon?" 

"You missed," he began to say, reaching up to smudge away a little by her eye," just a little bit." Lucy blushed about the closeness of their faces. They began to lean in slowly, both closing their eyes, getting ready too-

"Are you guys ready for dinn-," Wendy said coming into his room and seeing them so close,"er? Never mind! I'm sorry for interrupting!" she finished embarrassed and then ran out of the room.

"Looks like it's dinner time. I have to warn you," He started,"is a bit weird." 

"I happen to like weird." Lucy replied with a smile. They both got up and began to walk down the stairs and into the dinning room that was just off the kitchen. At the end of the table was Igneel, Natsu's dad. He had red hair in the same style as Natsu. Igneel was chief of Mangolia police station.

  On the other side of the table sat Grandeeny, the mother of the house. She had dark blue hair that was up in a high ponytail. Her occupation was a doctor in the local hospital. 

The side of the table was occupied be Wendy, Natsu's little sister who is in grade 7. She has the exact same hair as her mother and also whats to become a doctor. In all she is a very shy and sweet girl. 

"Natsu my boy, thanks you for joining us! Sit down!" Igneel said with a loud and joyful voice. Natsu smiled and did so. He took the seat opposite to Wendy. Lucy stood by the door way awkwardly.

"Lucy dear, you can sit next to Wendy." Grandeeny said. Lucy nodded in agreement and pulled up a chair beside Wendy. 

"So Lucy was it?" Igneel asked. She nodded again. "Any last name to go with that?"

"Heatfillia. My name is Lucy Heartfillia." She says in a shy-ish voice. Everyone, except Natsu, dropped their forks.

"You are Layla's child!?!?!" Grandeeny shouted in disbelief. 

"You knew my mother???" Lucy asked in an excited manner.

"Knew her? Pshhh. We were best friends in high school!" She said with stars in her eyes."Good times in high school." 

"That's great! What was my mom like?" 

Grandeeny looked at Lucy very closely."She looked exactly like you! I don't know why I didn't see it earlier!" Lucy smiled in embarrassment. "Ah, Layla. She was such an outgoing person. Before I met her I was a shy outcast. But we soon became partners in crime! We would go on late night McDonald's runs and have sleep overs with our other friends. She was the one who introduced me and Igneel!" Lucy listened intently. She loved hearing about her deceased mother. She no longer felt sadness when hearing about her, she felt happiness that her mother had changed peoples lives in a positive way. 

"So you and dad wouldn't have been together if Lucy's mom hadn't introduced you?" Wendy asked. Igneel and Grandeeny nodded. 

"Wow Luce! Your mom sounds awesome! I hope I can meet her one day!" Natsu exclaimed and the rest of the family nodded in a agreement. Lucy felt a little bit of sadness come into her heart. They didn't know she was dead. 

"If only that was possible." She stated quietly. 

"What do you mean?" Grandeeny asked.

"She died when I was 6. It was an untimely death but it happened so long ago. And my dad tells me everyday i am like my mom so it's like she never died." The family's faces dropped. "I'm sorry to put a depressing twist to this happy evening." Lucy said and Grandeeny hugged her. 

"You know. When you were born I was busy with Natsu and didn't have a lot of time to talk with your mother. But her did tell me she had a daughter." She said with a smile. "And she told me I was going to be the godmother if both her and Jude died. So technically I am your new mother!!!" She said excitedly. "And with such a strong girl too! Now I have 2 girls!"
Grandeeny then proceed to dance around the kitchen singing. She took Wendy and Lucy's hands and pulled them out of their chairs and they proceed to dance around the room. Laughter was heard through out the  house. Igneel put on some music and Natsu grabbed his guitar and started to strum along. The night was spent with laughter and sharing stories. Once the clock struck 10:30 Lucy had to get home. She already texted her father telling him where she was. 

"Natcu, can you take Lucy home please?" Igneel asked. Natsu nodded and grabbed the car keys. They stepped outside and Lucy was still laughing. She then unexpectedly hugged Natsu from behind. 

"Thank you Natsu." She said. Her grip on him loosened and she walked towards the car. They got in and her started the car.

"So my family wasn't too weird for you?" He asked.

"No, they are lovely people. And who would have known I would connect with my mom's friends? And I have you to thank for that." She replied and smiled at him. A true genuine smile that melted Natsu's heart. He smiled back and started to drive. 

Once they got to Lucy's house, Natsu gave her a goodbye hug and made sure she got into her house alright. Once he saw her blonde hair go into her front doors he smiled to him self and drove back home.

~Inside Lucy's House.~

Once Lucy got home she was greeted with her father.

"Have a fun night Lucy?" He asked while reading his news paper. Lucy nodded and ran to go hug him which he returned. She told him everything about the Dragoneels and how nice they were. Once Jude heard Igneel's name he stood up. "He was the one who hooked up me and your mother! I should pay him a visit! We should invite them to dinner!" He said all giddy like. Lucy stood there shocked. Her father hasn't been this happy in a long time. She began to smile too.

" I would like that." She replied.
