Lyann looked at me and asked "Ira what the heck girl I almost dropped you, what is it?" I told her to turn around and when she did her response was as stone as mine. "Coy" she said "the darn river is going to ice over I can guarantee that." I just stood there eyes widening in great disbelief like lightening struck me. The only reason I snapped out of it was because Lyann grabbed me by the arm and we made our way to the exit. Once in the parking lot we stood next to Lyann's truck and I felt myself sweating I really couldn't believe my eyes. After he disappeared nothing was ever heard from him again and if he visited his parents he had to have snuck in town. My friend grabbed me by my shoulders and asked if I was alright and I told her not really but I will be. I think I'm just going to head back home and take a relaxing bath and get some rest. I told her to get home safe, we hugged and parted ways.
Arriving back at my ranch I park my truck in the front and entered my home. I took the staircase up to my bedroom and went straight to my bathroom. I turned the brass tub handle between cold and hot to start the bath then I undressed. My bathroom was spacious with his and her sinks and the floors were porcelain tile. I didn't change much about the house once I inherited it because I was a lover of all things vintage. The door knobs, door hinges and even the hardware were all original to the home. I could never get rid of the claw foot rub my grandmother loved it and used it occasionally. It was cast iron and stand free and simply perfect for days you just wanted to soak and relax. It set next to the bow window that over looked the land.
I added lavender and Epsom salts to the water and I lowered myself down into the tub. I felt so many emotions seeing Coy you would think after all these years I would feel absolutely nothing. He was a childhood friend we did everything together even when we became of age. As time went on and we grew older we definitely grow closer to one another. Him and I crushed on each other so hard but never had the balls to officially date. We would always deny the feelings we felt for each other not only to others but to ourselves as well. He asked me to prom, even homecoming our Junior and Senior year. We attended school games together even ate lunch together. Who were we trying to fool? Coy Cash was my favorite person without doubt and I love him but never acted on it. After graduation we hung out with all of our friends even shared a kiss by the riverside, it was magical. Not long after he left Riverville and no contact was really made. I guess life really had him sucked in but I wonder if he ever thought of me as much as I thought of him. His soft gray eyes, gorgeous wavy hair and beautiful brown skin. This man stood six feet tall and his body was countryside built for sure.
I climbed out of the claw foot tub grabbed my towel and dried myself off. Wrapping the towel around my body I walked into my bedroom to dress in my black soft pajamas. I climbed into my bed pulling the cover over me and soon I drifted off to sleep.
