I woke up the next day with him on my mind but before bed hoping that I wouldn't. The way his dark skin glisten in the bar lights from a far has me by the heart. I never thought I would see him again or at least anytime soon since he's been gone for years. He clouded my mind to the point I laid in bed longer than usual because I always got up at the crack of dawn to head to the land. I pulled myself from bed to take care of my hygiene and get dressed in something comfy. I decided to head to the local market for watermelon and some fresh flowers to sit on my counter top and kitchen table. Flowers were just one of the many things I needed in my home. I adore them all my favorites were jasmines, lily's and roses.
I started my Branco and set my market baskets in the passenger seat then drove downtown. Riverville's downtown scenery was absolutely beautiful the community took such great care of the roads and sidewalks. I pulled into the parking in front of Bloom Patels and exit my truck to walk to the front of the boxes full of gorgeous flowers. It was always so good to see Ms. Nancy the older lady always kept a smile and loved flowers so much. She kept the freshest planets in the city and had tons of buyers daily throughout the year. I picked my flowers and she wrapped them in pretty green papers with a striped bow. I left her tips every time I purchased she took pride and wrapping your flowers and making sure you loved the outcome. I walked back over to my truck to make my way to the watermelon farm not far from the flower market.
The farm dirt parking was full of cars and truck showing that they were very busy but that didn't stop me from my mission. I walked through the front gates and grabbed one of the wagons they provided for their shoppers. I headed towards the back because that's where I liked picking my watermelons I would look them over and picked the perfect ones. After I gathered all I could fit in my wagon I would just walk around there were so many to see. The land went on and on for acres the further you walked out you could see the trees and beautiful flowers that blossom. They had haystacks you could sit on as well as handcrafted benches to just sit and take in the sunshine and relax. An hour later I decided I should head back so I could get home to make supper before it was too late. As I'm heading out I stopped to speak to the owner at the gate saying my goodbye when I felt a presence behind me. The touch sent a fire through my body and it felt so familiar that I couldn't deny it. Coy!
I turned around to his eyes gazed upon me and I could see the love in them. I froze its like I couldn't move, I didn't know what to say but the feelings were mutual.
Coy: Ira it's nice to finally see you.
Ira: Is that so?
Coy: Yes, I've waited so long to do so.
Ira: I can't do this here, right now this isn't the time. She turned to walk away but he wasn't too far behind her as she lead the way to her truck. Has she opened the door to place her things inside he grabbed her arm and said "let me at least help you Ira." She didn't reject she accepted the offer while still feeling unsure of the possibility of them. Little did he know she felt the same it had always been the attraction of love with him. What was there not to want in such a strong, beautiful crafted soul. After he helped her into the drivers seats he shut the door and walked around to unload her watermelon. Shortly after he was done her didn't care to dance around the fact that he wanted to see her and spend time with her. So he asked her to meet him at Riverville's small town park and she agreed.
They parted ways.
Back home Ira's mind went into so many different ways she didn't know how to feel but she knew she wanted him. She set outside on the porch swing just embracing the sun as it shined down on her acres. Thinking to herself we have only been friends we've never expressed or confessed any love for one another. Yes, it's obvious that there's more in between them that neither ever acknowledged back then as teenagers. But, it's definitely too late to deny it his touch let her know all she needed to it was electrifying.
