ch 7- Joining the Team

Gracie's POV:

Today was Soccer tryouts, I didn't tell anyone I was trying out because they would worry. Worry about me getting hurt or my grades dropping because of it. I especially didn't need Taylor worrying. Now that she's been my girlfriend for like a week, she's super protective of me. If anyone glares at me or smirks she gets jealous or mad at them and sometimes throws a punch at them. It's cute but sometimes it gets annoying. That's why I didn't tell her. I'll only tell her if I make the team or not. I was walking through the halls with my gym clothes on. Taylor came up to me.

Taylor-"babe, where are you going? Gym is tomorrow."

Gracie-"I'm just gonna go mess around in the Soccer field, get my anger out you know?"

She kissed my head and smiled.

Taylor-"Talk to me if it gets worse, okay Gray?"

Gracie-"I will, See you tonight baby"

She hugged me and let me go. I hate lying to her but I have to, I don't need her worrying like I said earlier. It took up my last period so I just prayed to god Rudy doesn't notice me gone. I walked out to the field while the rest of the team was there. My friend Morgan was trying out. I made her promise me she wouldn't tell Taylor.

Roy Kent-"ALRIGHT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, HUDDLE UP."

Everyone huddled around him and Ted came up behind him.

Ted Lasso-"I know we're all excited about try outs today,

He said as Everyone hugged each other tighter and some squealed, I'm just happy because this sport helps take out my anger, and it's the one thing I can look forward to. But then he continued.

Ted Lasso-"So I want Abrams to be on the attacking center mid. And Morgan you on the Center midfield everyone else you know where to go! Alright break!"

We all clapped, and half our team went on the other side to pretend to be the other team. The whistle blew and the tryouts started. The game went well, I made 4 goals and assisted one. I was sure I was gonna make the team.

Ted-"ABRAMS come here!"

The Coach yelled, I put my water bottle down and sprinted over.

Gracie-"What's up coach?"

Ted-"You're on the team. We could use someone like you."

Gracie-"REALLY?! Omg. thank you Coach!"

Ted-"congratulations Gracie. Your jersey should be ready just before the first game on Nov 1st. So It should be here tomorrow."

Gracie-"Ok sounds good! Should I stay here for the rest of the try outs or am I free?"

Ted-"Nope, You're free to go. Congratulations again."

I nodded and put my bag on my shoulder, before I left the field I told Morgan I made it in and she hugged me and spun me around.

Gracie-"PUT ME DOWN MORGAN I SWEAR!"

She laughed and put me down.

Morgan-"How are you gonna tell Tay?"

Gracie-" I don't know, maybe when my jersey gets delivered I'll show it to her"

Morgan-"Love you Gray, I'm happy for you, you deserve this."

Gracie-"You're gonna make it as well, I know it. I'll see you tomorrow at practice, ok? love you too"

Morgan-"yeah see you tomorrow."

I walked back into the school and put my soccer bag into my locker. I felt a hand on my shoulder and jumped.

Taylor-"It's me baby. Are you okay?"

Gracie-"Yea- yeah. What's up?"

I said as I shut my locker and blocked her from it. Totally not suspicious.

Taylor-"What are you hiding babe?"

Gracie-"Nothing Taylor. Let's just go to my house."

I scoffed at her.

Taylor-"Fine. I'm sorry, I Just got yelled at for using the bathroom so I'm not in a great mood. I'm sorry for taking it out on you honey."

I grabbed her shoulder and pulled her in a hug she gripped onto me like if she let go, I'd vanish. So held on tighter and played with the ends of her hair.

Taylor-"I-"

She shook her head in the crook of my neck.

Gracie-"hey, whats up? You what?"

I pulled back slightly and cupped her face.

Taylor-"nevermind, let's get you home."

I nodded and held her hand. I still wanna know what she was gonna say, but I guess I'll find out later. We walked to her car since she drove me to school. I got in the passenger seat and she got in the driver's seat.

It was now late. Me and Taylor went out for dinner, well more like, we got take out and ate at my house. We were gonna watch Friends, (That's our show) and cuddle. So I got the blankets and pillows and Tay came in.

Gracie-"come here sweet girl."

I said as I opened my arms for her.

Taylor-"you're happy today baby, what's that about?"

Gracie-"can I not cuddle my girlfriend and be happy?"

Taylor-"of course you can sweetie, I'm just saying you're happier than normal."

I smiled wider thinking about how I made the team, I wanna tell her but I have to keep it a secret. I was gonna surprise her tomorrow after school. She put her hand on my cheek from behind as her back was pressed on my front. I put my hand over hers.

Gracie-"Just got a good grade today that's all."

I partly lied. I did get a grade but not in the way she thinks.

Taylor-"aww, I'm proud of you Gracie, you work so hard."

I leaned down and kissed her on the lips and held her closer.

Taylor's POV:

It was a little past 10 when I looked up to tell her goodbye, but she was sound asleep. I love this girl so much, I wanna say it, but I'm afraid it's too soon. She was super happy for some reason today, I knew it had to be bigger than a grade but She'll tell me when she's ready. I slowly slid out from under her and picked her up arms under her thighs and I pulled her arm around my neck. I carried her to her room and put her under the covers and kissed her forehead.

Then I left her house and went back to mine.

A/N-HALLOWEEN IS TOMORROW AHH, I CAN'T WAIT. I THINK I'M GONNA HAVE TAYLOR SAY I LOVE YOU TOMORROW OR FRIDAY. I WILL POST A HALLOWEEN SPECIAL TOMORROW SO YAYAAY, I FINISHED THE GUTS TOUR ON NETFLIX AND I CRIED FOR THE TEENAGE DREAM INTRO LIKE I CRIED WHEN I WENT.
