The morning sun shone brightly as Jisoo walked towards the school, her thoughts still lingering on the conversation she had with her sisters the previous night. She felt a mix of emotions—confusion, excitement, and a hint of fear. What did it all mean? Were her feelings for Taehyung real, or was it just part of their act?
Lost in her thoughts, she almost didn't notice the three figures approaching her. It was only when she heard the familiar laughter that she looked up and saw Namjoon, Jimin, and Hobi walking towards her with mischievous grins on their faces.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Jisoo!" Namjoon called out, his deep voice filled with amusement.
Jisoo smiled, trying to hide her nervousness. "Hey, guys. What's up?"
Jimin, always the playful one, wiggled his eyebrows. "We heard some interesting things about you and Taehyung."
Jisoo's heart skipped a beat. "Oh? What kind of things?"
Hobi, his eyes twinkling with mischief, leaned in closer. "You two seemed pretty cozy lately. Anything you want to share with the class?"
Jisoo felt her cheeks heat up. "It's not like that," she protested, trying to keep her voice steady. "We're just the same."
Namjoon chuckled. "usual, huh? Funny, because Taehyung seems to be acting a little different lately. More... distracted. And we think it has something to do with you."
Jisoo couldn't help but feel a flutter of hope at Namjoon's words. Could it be true? Was Taehyung really affected by her as much as she was by him?
Jimin nudged her playfully. "Come on, Jisoo. We're just teasing. But seriously, if you need any advice on dealing with Taehyung, we're here for you."
Hobi nodded in agreement. "Yeah, he's a tough nut to crack, but we know him better than anyone. Just don't let him get away with being too aloof."
Jisoo smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it."
Namjoon patted her on the shoulder. "No problem. Just remember, we're rooting for you."
As they continued walking towards the school, Jisoo felt a sense of camaraderie with Taehyung's friends. Their teasing had lightened her mood, and their support gave her the confidence she needed to face the day.
When they reached the school gates, Jisoo saw Taehyung waiting by the entrance. Her heart skipped a beat, but the moment their eyes met, he quickly looked away, his expression hardening. Jisoo felt a pang of disappointment.
Namjoon, Jimin, and Hobi exchanged glances, their playful demeanor shifting to concern. "Uh-oh, looks like someone's not in a mood," Jimin muttered under his breath.
"Hey, Taehyung!" Namjoon called out, trying to break the tension.
Taehyung nodded curtly, his gaze fixed on something in the distance. "Hey," he replied, his voice cold and distant.
Jisoo took a step forward, her heart pounding. "Taehyung, can we talk?"
Taehyung's jaw tightened, and he shook his head. "Not now, Jisoo. I have to get to class."
Before she could say anything else, Taehyung turned on his heel and walked away, leaving Jisoo standing there, feeling a mix of confusion and hurt.
Namjoon sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Don't take it personally, Jisoo. He's just... complicated."
Jimin nodded in agreement. "Yeah, he's been like this since last night. Give him some time."
Hobi reached out and squeezed her shoulder reassuringly. "We're here for you, okay? Don't let him get to you."
Jisoo forced a smile, but her heart felt heavy. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it."
As they headed to their classes, Jisoo couldn't shake the feeling of unease. Taehyung's coldness had thrown her off, and she couldn't understand what had caused the sudden change in his behavior.
Throughout the day, she tried to focus on her studies, but her mind kept drifting back to Taehyung. She replayed their last conversation in her head, searching for any clues that might explain his actions. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't make sense of it.
By the time the final bell rang, Jisoo was exhausted, both mentally and emotionally. She gathered her things and headed towards the school gate, hoping to catch a glimpse of Taehyung and maybe get some answers.
As she walked out of the building, she saw Taehyung leaning against a tree, his expression unreadable. Summoning her courage, she approached him.
"Taehyung, can we please talk?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Taehyung's eyes were cold, and his voice was devoid of warmth. "What is there to talk about, Jisoo? I thought I made myself clear this morning."
Jisoo felt tears prick her eyes. "But I don't understand. What did I do wrong?"
Taehyung sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's not about you, okay? It's about me. I need some space."
Taehyung's gaze softened for a brief moment before he steeled himself again. "Sometimes, it's better to keep your distance. Trust me, it's for the best."
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Jisoo standing there, her heart breaking. She watched him go, feeling a sense of helplessness wash over her.
As she made her way home, Jisoo couldn't shake the feeling of despair. She didn't know what had caused Taehyung's sudden change in behavior, but she knew she couldn't give up. She had to find a way to reach him, to understand what was going on in his mind.
As Jisoo walked home, her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. She replayed the day's events over and over, trying to make sense of Taehyung's cold demeanor. Lost in her thoughts, she almost didn't notice the figure standing in her path until it was too late.
"Jisoo," a familiar voice called out. Jisoo looked up to see Irene, Taehyung's ex-girlfriend, standing before her. Irene's expression was unreadable, but there was a hint of something in her eyes that made Jisoo uneasy.
"Irene," Jisoo greeted, trying to keep her voice steady. "What are you doing here?"
Irene smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "I was just passing by and thought I'd check in on you. Have you made up your mind yet?"
Jisoo frowned, confused. "Made up my mind about what?"
Irene's smile widened, but it was cold. "About giving Taehyung back to me, of course. You know, he's been acting strange lately, and I think it's because of you."
Jisoo felt a surge of anger and hurt. "Irene, Taehyung is not a possession to be given or taken. He's his own person."
Irene's eyes flashed with annoyance. "Oh, come on, Jisoo. We both know that Taehyung and I have a history. We were happy once, and I believe we can be happy again. But you're in the way."
Jisoo took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "Irene, you're engaged to Suho. Why are you still clinging to Taehyung?"
Irene's expression hardened. "Because I know Taehyung better than anyone. I know what he needs, and I know he still has feelings for me. You, on the other hand, are just a distraction."
Jisoo felt tears prick her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. "I care about Taehyung, and I want to be there for him. Whether you like it or not, that's not going to change."
Irene took a step closer, her voice low and menacing. "You think you can compete with me? You think you can make him happy? You're just a phase, Jisoo. He'll come back to me eventually."
Jisoo stood her ground, her voice firm. "Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But that's for Taehyung to decide, not you."
Irene's eyes narrowed, and she took a step back. "We'll see about that," she said coldly before turning and walking away.
As Jisoo watched her go, she felt a mix of fear and determination. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew she couldn't let Irene's words shake her resolve. She had to find a way to reach Taehyung, to understand what was going on in his mind.
And she was determined to do it, no matter how hard it was.
