Happy Halloween y'all! I decided to make this chapter Halloween themed, just a bit. Enjoy and thank you so much for reading!
Days past, and before anyone knew it, it was Halloween.
Rose wakes up to the smell of pumpkin, the delicious aura dragging her out of bed. After getting dressed, she goes into the common room, grinning as students greet each other with "Happy Halloween!"
In the Great Hall, the ghosts fly around the tables, looking longingly at students' plates as they stack them high with pumpkin treats, from pumpkin pancakes to pumpkin cinnamon rolls.
The room is decorated with floating candles and Jack-O-Lanterns, and each table had one pumpkin in the center of it, along with orange paper garlands made by the house elves, which were strung up beautifully along the walls.
Rose sits next to Lily, who is already half-way through breakfast. She laughs.
"You seem hungry."
Lily shakes her head. "Not hungry; starving."
Rose rolls her eyes, grinning, and fills up her own plate, ignoring the jealous looks from Nearly Headless Nick.
Classes are halved today, meaning the students have lots of free time. Most of them hang out in their common rooms, enjoying butterbeer they had snatched up from the kitchen.
Rose was going to study, but before she can sit down Hugo grabs her arm and drags her to the window excitedly.
"Rosie, look! It's snowing!"
Rose looks out, watching the soft fluffy flakes float gently to the ground.
"You act as if you've never seen snow."
He groans. "You're no fun." He walks off, a frustrated look on his face.
She looks outside again, smiling as snow piles up against the window.
The Gryffindor fireplace emits a cozy warmth, drawing many students near as the day wears away, the sun invisible behind looming gray clouds.
Rose sits in the fluffy red armchair, watching the last embers in the fire dissipate. The other Gryffindors had long since abandoned the common room, all of them tired from the huge dinner the house elves had served them. Not long after, Rose feels the same, and, standing up, she yawns and makes her way to bed, realizing she hadn't even had one thought of Scorpius the entire day.
