courthouse crashout

After mustering up as many Pogues as they could, the group made their way to the courthouse to try and fight for Poguelandia. Kyla and JJ walked toward the building together, hand in hand. "You sure you got everyone?" Kyla asked him, starting to get a bit nervous.

"Oh, I'm sure. These Kooks aren't gonna know what hit 'em," JJ told her before he stopped in his tracks, staring ahead. "Shit, your parents," he muttered, releasing her hand and rubbing his face.

Kyla looked forward and saw her dad staring down JJ with Kiara grimacing next to him and her mom frowning. She sighed, "I gotta go talk to them. Just...don't worry. They'll warm up to you eventually."

"Yeah, I'm not too sure about that," JJ said before he saluted Mike awkwardly as Kyla walked toward her father.

"Honey, it's good to see you. We were just telling your sister how you both should come by the house more often. It's always open," Anna said to Kyla, trying to cover for her father's momentary anger.

Kyla pursed her lips. "Oh, well, I'll think about it." Anna nodded, saddened by her daughters' unwillingness to come back home but she knew that it was warranted after what her and Mike did. "Hey, Dad," Kyla then greeted her father.

"Kyla. I see you're still with JJ," he pointed out.

"Look, Dad, if this is gonna turn into an argument, can we not do it here?" She pleaded, just wanting to save her home.

"I know, I know. And I'm here to support you girls, 100%," he said, but Kyla knew if he 100% supported her, then he wouldn't have sent her and Kiara away to Kitty Hawk and he would be more open to her and JJ's relationship. "I do want to talk about what I've been hearing about her you punching some girl, though."

"Again, not now, please."

Once everyone had gathered into the courthouse, the room had clearly been divided into Kooks and Pogues. Kyla had sat next to JJ, their hands intertwined once more as a way to comfort to each other while the other Pogues had sat in the same pew. Rhi and Alex had also been sitting with them, wanting to support them as well.

"Before we move on with the rest of our agenda, I want to remind everyone to maintain civility and decorum throughout the rest of these proceedings. We're one island. Why don't we all try to act like it?" The Mayor spoke to everyone in the hall.
