Ava was in shock as she watched her daughter rush over to her grandmother who had just collapsed after Sam had executed Mitch.
She was shocked even more when she started to glow and mutter something to the older woman. Her daughter. Her sweet, empathic, lovable, caring, and thoughtful daughter was glowing. And she was giving off a calming, comforting aura. She felt safe, and loved, as if everything was going to be okay. She glanced at her sons and saw that they were glowing as well, not a full body glow like Delilah, but their eyes were giving off the same warm glow that she had. But the feeling she was getting from them was also slightly different. Dominic was giving out a very comforting feeling when she looked at him. And Devon made her feel safe, protected.
She had not known what Mitch had meant when he had said Daisy would die as well if he did, but now she thought that she might have known what he had meant.
If he died, she would as well.
She didn't understand how it would work, but she did remember when she was younger that many married couples often died together. At the time she didn't think anything of it, but now she wondered if it had something to do with the bond their wolves must have.
Cassie sidled closer to her, whispering in her ear, "When one mate dies, the bond snaps forcefully causing immense pain to the surviving wolf, often killing them as well. How they are doing this Ava?" She asked her.
She shook her head, "I don't know."
Ava looked out at the rest of the people that were gathered, and she saw their faces all had looks of either shock or awe. Some must know what was going on.
Sam walked over to them, and whispered. "Delilah, sweetheart, what is going? What are you doing?"
"We have to save nana. Her wolf is hurting, we have to help her." Was all the response she got, but not just from their daughter, but from all three of them.
It was really creepy when all three of them spoke at the same time like that. They used to do that quite a lot when they were younger, and it gave her chills every time.
Slowly, the glow faded.
And soon Daisy was standing upright on her own, a watery smile on her face. She gave a sad little laugh and pulled the kids into her arms.
"I think we should go to my office and talk about this." Sam said as he placed his hand on his mothers shoulder. She nodded, and turned towards the large house, holding Delilah close as she went.
Sam turned to Ava. "You ever seen that before?"
She shook her head as a strange voice said from behind her. "Of course she hadn't. It's not something that she would have needed to do before." They both turned to look at the woman who had spoken. The woman smiled at them, it was an odd smile that should have sent heron edge, but it didn't. "Hello, you must be the Little Luna's mother. It's so nice to meet you. I'm Matilda, I've come to answer a few questions you might have."
Ava saw Sam's shoulders sag in relief. "Thank you. I really appreciate it."
"That's alright, will Terry be joining us?" The woman, Matilda, asked.
"Yeah, in a little while. He wanted to talk about something with me."
She nodded and walked off in the same direction that the others had gone. Ava turned to Sam, "Who is she?"
"Matilda, she's one of our elders. Although no one is really sure just how old." He told her. "Shall we go?"
He grabbed her hand and led her into the building.
Sam led Ava into his office where they were all waiting.
He pulled her over to his desk and had her sit in his chair. He liked having her there, and he was even more determined to keep her there.
"So, who wants to start?" He asked as soon as everyone had settled down.
"Oh, that would be me. But first, I think you should get the Little Luna some protein. All that power she used must have drained her something rotten. In fact they all look a bit green, better get them all something. They weren't supposed to do that until they had full control over their wolves yet." Matilda stated as she sat cross legged on the floor. He glanced at them and agreed that they did look like they needed something.
He sent a quick message to the kitchen staff, then got back on track.
"So, what was that?"
