Celine had spent all summer wallowing in so much self-pity, that she'd completely forgotten that this was supposed to be her O.W.L.s year.

Her Professors quickly reminded her.

Snape had given them a 12-inch essay due by the next class, Sprout (who even in all of her niceness, stressed the importance of this year for 30 minutes) assigned each of them to select a rare plant for their upcoming research project, and McGonagall left her with about a pound of notes- all on the first day! Not to mention, she's got Defense with Umbridge next and something about that lady is giving her the heebie-jeebies.

Cedric used to always say she had a 6th sense for that kind of thing. In 2nd year she was able to warn him away from a girl who'd had a crush on him; the girl tried (and succeeded) to steal locks of his hair while he wasn't looking- he'd have been bald by the end of the term if it weren't for Celine telling him something was up.

Since Slytherin shares Defense with the Gryffindors this year, Celine and Parvati decide to walk to class together after lunch. Waving goodbye to Susan who has double potions, they make their way out of the Great Hall.

"Do you reckon she's any good?" Parvati asks as they round the corner to the corridor, "Umbridge?"

Celine shrugs, "I doubt it. You can't expect much from the Ministry, especially if they dress like that,".

She likes pink- it's one of her favorite colors; but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and Umbridge has found it.

A few portraits wave at them as they pass, and there's two suits of armor fighting at the end of the corridor- being egged on by students. Celine feels her heart lift a little. She'd missed this- being surrounded by magic. It wasn't the same over the summer; the most entertainment she got was out of Crookshanks stealing all the twins's extendable ears.
