What Happened Between Us

I started running to the park as soon as our eyes met. I could hear voices call my name from behind me but I didn't care I just wanted to get away. I got to the park and sat at the bench that Luke and I always sat at when we came. We chose this bench because it was hidden but the trees of the park so that no one could see us. Which is perfect because right now I didn't really want anyone to see me.

Why is he back?

Why did he even leave?

Is he the same as he was before?

 Does he even remember me?

All of these questions ran through my head. I decided to call Luke and tell him what's going on, I really need one of his reassuring hugs right now.

"Hey kiddo what's up?" Luke answered.

"Hey um could you come to the park a little early? Like maybe now?" I  asked, my voice getting shaky.

"Of course I can. What's wrong?" Luke asked sounding really concerned.

"I'll explain when you get here." Then I hung up and waited for him.

"Hey Skye what's wrong?" Luke ran over a few minutes later. He has long legs so it didn't take him that long to run here.

"H-he's back," I stuttered

"What who's back? Back where?" Luke asked really confused.

"Calum. He's moved back into his house and I don't know why, I don't even know if he remembers me," I said really quickly, clearly freaking out.

Luke pulled me into a tight, reassuring hug. "Ok ok slow down and lets talk things over so we can try and work this out."

I took a deep breath. "Okay."

"So how was it between you and Calum before he left?"

"Well our mums were friends from college and have been really good friends ever since. When they both had kids obviously us kids were destined to be good friends. So Calum and I had been friends ever since I can remember and we would spend ALL the time together. We were so close that people thought we were dating. We would tell each other everything and he was there for me when my dad died which made us even closer. But then one day his whole family just left and I don't know why and I kind of just was really mad at him for just abandoning me like that. I tried so fucking hard to forget about him and now he just strolls back in with no explanation." I stood up clenching my fists, I was getting really mad about this whole thing.

"Shh ok calm down we'll sort everything out," Luke says pulling me back down to the bench and embracing me in a tight warm hug whilst stroking my hair to calm me down. I have to say it worked.

"I think what you need to do is talk it out with him. Maybe not today but when your ready. He might have a perfectly good reason and if so you guys can become friends again," Luke said. Wow since when did he become so wise?

"Ok, I think I will maybe tomorrow?" I suggested more towards myself than Luke.

"Okay. Are you sure you're going to be okay? You won't try and break anything or yell at anyone?" Luke asked since he knows how angry I can get. I haven't always been angry but it started after my dad died and Calum thought it might be a coping strategy for my brain instead of crying like a normal person.

I thought for a moment knowing that mum or Hunter might bring it up and the fact that I could see their house clearly from my bedroom window. "Um actually can you stay the night? We could get some movies and lollies and just have a movie night? Just in case,"I suggested to Luke.
