New year, new drama

I walked into school and immediately got tackled with a bone crushing hug from one of my best friends,  Lia.

"Hey! I missed you so much!" She screamed.

"You saw me yesterday," I stated.

"So what? I'm not allowed to miss by best friend anymore? Fine Samantha is my new bae," She huffed.

She has always been overly dramatic and that's why I love her.

"I meant I saw you yesterday so why didn't you give me a bigger hug? you idiot," I laughed.

We stared walking to our lockers.

"Hay bitches! who missed me?" yelled Nick who came running over to greet us.

Yes Nick is gay. He is also even more dramatic than Lia.

"We did!" Lia and I chorused together.

"Where's Sam?" I asked seeing that our fourth partner in crime wasn't there and she is usually here early so that she can study in the library.

"She said that she was going to be a bit late because she has to help her dad with an experiment," Lia informed us.

Sam is a total nerd when it comes to anything to do with school or her dad's science experiments. I'm glad that I'm not the only one in our group who isn't a drama queen.

We all grab our stuff and head to home room. Luckily we are all in the same home room so we don't have to go to different parts of the school.

Homeroom was pretty boring, we just got our timetables and a huge lecture about not slacking off this year just coz it's our last year.

When I got out of home room I checked my timetable.

English was one of my favourite subjects. I had english with Nick, which was good because under all of his crazy personality he makes a really good poet.

"Okay class settle down," said Mrs Crawford. "Your main assessment for this term is to write an essay about your life so far, your life right now and what you want to aspire to in the future. You will have all term to write this so make sure you think long and hard about it."

The rest of the class went quite quickly, which is good because I really wanted to get to music. Music is my favourite class. The music that I'm taking is where you just get to chose an instrument and write music for it. Of course I chose guitar. None of my friends are in my class which is good i guess because I just get to be alone and I get to focus on my music. The teacher is pretty cool too, Mr Duns. He doesn't like us calling him that though so in class we just call him Matt.

The music room was pretty cool as well. It was a pretty big room filled with all different types of instruments. There were 6 smaller rooms where you could work on songs and record stuff.

"Alright guys simmer down, this terms project is to write a song and the best song will get to perform at this years prom," Matt announced as he leaned against his desk. "There's a catch though. Your song has to be a duet and it has to be a song about a relationship. whether it be a father daughter relationship, a best friends relationship hell, it could even be about a relationship between peanut butter and jam. I really don't care as long as it's a song about a relationship."

Great, I thought. there were only 9 people in this class which means that I guess i would have to write this duet by myself.

"Hey Matt, I don't have a partner so I was wondering if I could just write a song about a relationship by myself?" I asked hoping that I could because I really don't want to work in a three with these people that I don't even like.

"Oh don't worry Skye, we will have a new student to the school next week and he will be taking this class so you can just go with him. For now just start brainstorming some ideas," Matt smiled.

A new guy? All of a sudden my mind started thinking about this new guy. Was he good looking? Was he just another jerk? What sort of music did he like? Suddenly my thoughts were disrupted by a tapping on my shoulder.

"Thinking about how lonely you are Henderson? You could always join our group, I'm sure it's better with three anyway," the culprit of the tapping winks.

Ugh. Michael Clifford and Luke Hemmings. The schools most popular boys in school. Also the hottest guys in school. Damn. If they weren't so popular or I wasn't such a nobody they would make pretty fun friends. They also have an excellent taste in music.

"I'd love to but Matt says that there is a new guy coming next week and that he can be my partner," I say sarcastically.

Michael smiles then goes off to go get a guitar.

"Oh that's a shame. To be honest I was kinda looking forward to getting to know you more, you seem pretty cool," Luke said looking intensely into my brown eyes with his blue ones.

I looked at the acoustic guitar in my hands not knowing what to say.

"Maybe we could catch up sometime and get to know each other?" Luke suggested still not breaking eye contact with me.

"Uh yeah that'd be awesome, I'd like that."

"Okay well call me and we'll catch up," Luke winked, handing me a piece of paper with his number on it.

I smiled and took it from his hand. Our hands slightly grazed against each other. I could feel a burning sensation going up my arm. We stared at each other for what seemed like forever. Then I quickly walked into one of the smaller rooms to catch my breath. I've never felt like this about a guy before. Could this be what love is? I guess only time will tell.
