Re-discovering Calum Hood

Hi, I'm Skye Henderson. Im 17 and live in Sydney, Australia. I live with my mum, Maria, my older brother, Hunter (21) and my younger brother, Mason (6). My dad died when I was 13 years old in a car crash . I have three best friends, Lia, Nick and Samantha. I don't do much, I mostly just sit up in my room either listening to music, writing music or playing music. Yeah, I'm like obsessed with music okay, don't judge me.  

I wake up to the godawful sound of  my alarm. 6:00am. great. 

Today was the first day back at school this year. It is also the first day of my last year at high school. I swear as soon as I'm out of that hell hole I'm packing my bags and getting on  a plane. I don't know where yet but I really couldn't care less. 

I decide to get out of bed seeing that I don't really want to start the first day being late to class. 

I go to my bathroom and look at myself in the mirror. My dark brow, wavy  hair is all over the place. I look in my mirror for a while longer examining the rest of me. I wasn't that bad looking in my perspective. I was average hight with dark skin and hair that came to my waist. I wasn't the prettiest girl on the planet but it'll do. I honestly don't get how girls can hate themselves that much.

I get into the shower and wash my hair. Once I'm finished I blow dry my hair, deciding to just leave it wavy today. I threw on my ripped black jeans and my All Time Low shirt that i got from their concert last year. I tied up my red canvas shoes and then went back to the bathroom to do my makeup. I only wear eyeliner and mascara and sometimes if it's a special occasion I'll wear some lipstick, opposed to some girls at my school who look like they've just head butted all of their makeup at once. 

I grab my black backpack and head downstairs. 

I walk into the kitchen to see my mum. I respect her so much because when my dad died everyone expected her to be a mess but she showed everyone just how strong she was by carrying on with her job at the hospital whilst looking after a two year old, a thirteen year old, and an 18 year old. She did that all without any help. She has also been the bestest friend that anyone could ever ask for, I can share anything with her. 

"Morning sweetie, are you ready for your first day of senior year?" my mum asked chirpily as she cuts up some toast for Mason who is sitting at the dining table colouring. 

"Not really but at least it's only one more year," I say as I grab some toast that mum had just buttered.

"Oh come on I bet school isn't that bad." 

"It's not the learning part that's bad mum, it's all the drama that goes along with it. All the girls these days seem to care about is how they look and how much attention they have and all guys care about is how many chicks they can bang," 

"Skye your younger brother is around," mum scolded. 

"Well it's true."

I walk over and sit at the table next to Mason. 

"Morning Mase," I said as I messed up his brown, curly hair. 

"Skye, I drawed this for you to put in your locker," Mason grinned as he held his drawing up to me. 

"Oh cheers kiddo."

"It's our family see, that's you with your guitar and that's mummy in her nurses clothes and that's Hunter and Lucy and daddy is on that cloud watching over us all."

Mason was only two when dad died so he doesn't remember him, he has only heard about him. I guess it's good that he wasn't old enough to realise what had happened. Hunter and I were messes when dad died. I didn't come out of my room for a month and Hunter went to the bar every night and got drunk. That's when he met his girlfriend, Lucy. She was working at the bar and saw how miserable he was. She helped him out of that dark stage and has been like an older sister to me. Ever since then they have been together. 

"That's so awesome kiddo! I'm going to put it in my locker as soon as I get to school," I smile down at him then look at the clock. "Speaking of which I better get going, see you guys later!" I kiss them both on the cheek then head out the door. I put my earphones in my ears then start walking to school with Chocolate by The 1975 blasting.
