Exhaustion

A few days pass and Cosima has to do tests in her lab. Delphine is the first to wake up that day because of her constant need to vomit. She runs to the bathroom with her hand covering her mouth. As she gets to the toilet, Cosima is there like always to hold her hair back while reassuring her fiancé that she's okay. Delphine flushes the toilet and washes out her mouth before slouching down to the bathroom floor and letting out a cry. Cosima's heart breaks from seeing the sight as she sits beside her and holds her tightly, letting her cry into her chest.

"What's wrong baby?"

"I'm exhausted and I can't sleep much because I'm up every other hour to throw up what's left inside of me."

Cosima rubs her back slowly,
"Shh it's okay you will get through it and I promise to be here all the time. It will all be over soon and in 6 months, you will be saying how much this was worth it. "

Delphine manages to smile a bit before nodding and motioning for Cosima to help her up. Cosima does what she is told before getting her to the bed and kissing her tear dried cheeks.

"I hate to leave you like this, but duty calls at work."

Delphine looks at the clock and scrunches her nose.

"It's still early, why have you been going so early?"

"I have to get something settle. I love you though okay?"

Delphine sighs, knowing this has to do with whatever her fiancé has been hiding from her,
"Mhm.i love you too"

Cosima gets ready for her day, and stops to stare at her beautiful fiancé staring off in the distance.

"You okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine."

Cosima nods before kissing Delphine and telling her she will call her when she is done. She leaves the house in a hurry, and drives off to the lab. She gets her test results back from a week ago, which she kept a secret from everyone. She slowly opens the paper before hitting the desk with her fists and throwing the paper in the trash. Cosima researches solution and runs different tests to make this right, but nothing seems to work.

Delphine at home is exhausted, emotionally and physically. She hates this big secret that Cosima doesn't talk about and she knows when something isn't right. She feels lost and alone, but she won't force Cosima into telling her. She will just have to wait, no matter how much that hurts.

7:00 pm

Cosima gets home to find Delphine on her laptop as usual. She takes her coat off before rushing over to her wife and kissing her passionately.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too."
Delphine smiles as Cosima insists on cooking dinner for the night. Cosima walks to the kitchen and prepares the food, before turning the stove on and starting to boil some noodles. When the noodles are done, Cosima picks the pot up, but drops it as she begins to cough drastically. The hot water from the pot burns Cosima's arm, as she yells from the pain. Delphine rushes inside before gasping at the sight and rushing over to clean up the mess and help Cosima.

"What happened?! Are you alright?"
She examines Cosima's arm, but her eyes widen as she sees blood dripping from Cosima's nose. Delphine cups her face and asks in worry,
"You're bleeding and your arm needs to be treated. what's going on?"
Cosima shakes her head and reassures her that everything is okay and it was all an accident. But Delphine knows better.
"Let's just go get you cleaned up."

They decide to skip dinner after the incident and lay in bed. Delphine cups Cosima's cheek.

"You should probably go to the doctors to find out why your nose started bleeding and you've been coughing so much."

"No I'm fine babe."

"Why are you so against doctors recently? "

"I just don't like them."

Cosima faces away and closes her eyes. She hates lying to the one she loves, but she has no other choice, telling her the truth would crush her and stress her too much. She is carrying a baby, stress does no good in that matter.
