Chapter Five- I quit. I will no longer chase you!

***

"Gurl, don't tell me ang gagang Rhy's na yun ang ipinalit sayo?!" Lita exclaimed.

Oa pang napamaypay si Karisha sa sarili niya, as if hindi niya nakakaya ang mga naririnig niya. These brats kung maka arte parang sila ang napagtaksilan!

I looked up from the silver silk I had been knitting on the machine for quite some time. I was with my groupmates, Lita Mitchell Bituin and Karisha Escalante, all girls who were also my partners for this project called Garment Design and Construction. This project meant that we had to design and create our own gown, which we would then present to a crowd as part of a larger event. We'd also need to find a model who would wear our group's artwork and present it during the presentation. It was a big deal for us since there would be an audience and judges to critique our designs. Various clothing brands, as well as modeling agencies, would be attending, so it was an excellent opportunity to showcase our creativity. That's why I was so excited about it.

We had gathered together inside a small boutique, working diligently on our midterm project. I enjoyed their company as they were both amusing and fun to talk to. My mom thoughtfully provided us with a generous amount of space in a designated area where we would be crafting our dresses and other outfits.

"Quit it, girls. Ang impossible non!" Hirit ko naman.

Hindi ako maniniwala na in love talaga si Migo sa babaeng yun. I mean--- mas una silang nagkakilala kaysa samin...

That's so impossible!

"Sabi mo sure ka sa nakita mo?" It was Karisha who spoke while busy scratching for illustrations. Intriga pa rin siya sa chismis ko, you know... Yung nag Saturday night kami ni Benj and i accidentally saw Migo and Rhy's.

"Friends lang sila" i was convincing them... More likely, i am convincing myself.

"Ahhh okay... May friends na palang nagpupunas ng pawis. Wow, this generation nga naman" Lita said with her obvious sarcasm.

Sumimangot lang ako, "I'll just let them be for now... Basta, babawiin ko yang Migo ko." I said in conviction.

"Kung kaya mo... May kalaban ka pa naman" Parinig ni Lita.

"She's not a threat. Mas maganda ako noh!"

"Alright... We'll listen for now. Basta kaya muna yan, Jai. Pero pagmasakit na...bitaw na, okay?" Ayon pa ni Karisha.

I glared at them, "Shh... Don't feed me negativity, guys!"

He's a total package, gwapo, humble, sweet, gentleman at sure ang kinabukasan mo dahil dedicated at hard working. I didn't expect that you two will break up. Ang tagal niyo tapos ang sweet niyo pa." Komento ni Lita.

I didn't see it coming either. I had been in denial, thinking it was all just a dream. But two days had passed, and it slowly dawned on me that we were really over. It was a pity.

"I know you're tired, love. I can go home by myself..."

I smiled at him to reassure him that he didn't need to accompany me home. However, he shook his head adamantly, insistent on walking me home despite having just finished work after clocking overtime, even though he had just come from school as well.

Pagod siya, halata yon pero gwapo parin.

He kindly took my bag from me and playfully kissed my cheek, eliciting a fluttery feeling in my stomach.
