As Y/N flipped through the stacks of files on her desk, she couldn't help but shake her head at the staggering discrepancies in the budget reports. Nearly every project Jungkook was responsible for was short on funds, with amounts mysteriously missing from the accounts. The budget records revealed it all—money vanishing without explanation, leading to a specific bank account. Smirking, she thought of Jungkook scrambling to keep up with the mounting expenses he’d taken on, likely for his mistress.

Sitting back in her chair, Y/N recalled her conversation with Jungkook’s grandfather just days ago. He had reached out in confidence, confessing that he’d been watching the company bleed money for the past year. Though he had initially trusted Jungkook with these projects, the persistent budget leaks left him suspicious.

“Y/N,” he had said, his voice carrying a tone of weary frustration, “I believe someone’s stealing from us. You’re the only one I can trust to uncover this without any bias.”

So here she was, just days after stepping into the role, already prepared to catch her husband in the act. Pressing the intercom button, she called for her assistant.

“Please have Mr. Jeon and Miss Hyemi report to my office. Immediately,” Y/N said, her voice calm but edged with authority.

She placed her phone among the files and discreetly hit the record button, preparing to document every word of the conversation that was about to unfold. This would be more than enough evidence if Jungkook tried to deny it.

A few minutes later, the door opened, and Jungkook walked in, Hyemi trailing behind. Jungkook looked slightly irritated, while Hyemi's forced smile couldn't quite mask her unease.

“Y/N,” Jungkook started, settling into a casual stance, “I didn’t realize you were calling the shots here now. What’s this about?”

“Oh, you’re about to find out,” Y/N replied, a sharp glint in her eye as she folded her hands over the files on her desk. “I’ve been going through some... interesting financial reports. You know, since your grandfather entrusted me with an internal review.”

Jungkook’s face immediately tensed, but he forced a smirk. “A review, huh? And here I thought the company was doing fine.”

“Funny,” Y/N replied coolly. “That’s what I thought too—until I found these.” She gestured to the budget reports. “Massive amounts of money disappearing from project budgets, and all roads lead to one particular bank account.”

Hyemi's eyes flickered nervously as Y/N’s words sunk in, but Jungkook tried to laugh it off. “You’re making this sound like a soap opera. I handle those projects; any financial shifts have to do with normal expenses.”

“Really?” Y/N tilted her head, feigning innocence. “Because these ‘shifts’ happen to be consistent amounts, transferred at regular intervals to the same account. And that account isn’t registered to the company. Care to explain?”

Jungkook’s smirk faltered. “Look, projects need flexibility. Sometimes we move funds around... to cover unexpected costs.”

“Unexpected costs?” Y/N’s voice was ice-cold now. “Funny, because none of these projects have even shown any significant delays or issues that require ‘extra funding.’ In fact, they’re all under budget. The question is, where is that money going?”

Hyemi shifted uncomfortably, glancing nervously at Jungkook, but he continued to dig in. “I don’t have to justify every little transaction to you, Y/N. Maybe you don’t know how complex project management can get.”

“Oh, I know,” Y/N said, her gaze sharpening. “But I also know that your grandfather has trusted me to dig into this because he’s losing faith in you. If you’re moving funds around without approval, that’s more than enough reason for him to cut you out of the company entirely.”
