As the days passed with Jungkook avoiding coming home, Y/N found herself surprisingly unbothered. She was starting to enjoy her evenings with Jennie, who always knew how to lift her spirits. And when Eunwoo began showing up more frequently, bringing her thoughtful gifts—flowers, chocolates, all her favorite things—it felt almost like a relief. With Eunwoo around, she could laugh and forget the complex mess that her marriage had become, even if only for a little while.
This evening, Eunwoo had brought her a box of her favorite pastries, and they were lounging on the couch, talking and laughing over their sodas. He had an endless supply of funny stories, making her feel light-hearted, as if the weight of the last few months had temporarily lifted.
Just as Y/N took a sip from her soda, the front door swung open. Both she and Eunwoo turned toward the sound, only to see Jungkook standing there, looking utterly disheveled. His clothes were rumpled, and there was a shadow of exhaustion on his face—like he hadn't had a proper night’s rest, let alone a shower, in days.
“Y/N.” His voice was low and steady, but his expression froze the moment he noticed Eunwoo sitting comfortably beside her on the couch.
A flash of anger sparked in Jungkook’s eyes. His gaze drifted from Y/N, who looked beautiful and relaxed, wearing a soft, form-fitting dress, her hair styled to perfection, and then back to Eunwoo, who was grinning at her, his eyes gleaming with admiration.
"Jungkook." Y/N greeted him casually, a smile spreading on her face as she leaned slightly forward, enough to give Jungkook a glimpse of her neckline. “Didn’t think you’d be back tonight. Eunwoo and I were just having a little catch-up.”
Jungkook clenched his fists as he moved further into the room, his gaze darkening. "So, you invite him over… to our home?” His voice had an edge, clearly directed more at her than at Eunwoo.
Y/N simply raised an eyebrow, unfazed. “Well, since you've been gone every night, I figured I'd have some company. Eunwoo has been a wonderful friend.”
Eunwoo offered a polite nod, but Jungkook’s jealousy was already simmering. His eyes bore into Eunwoo, barely hiding his disdain. “I see. And is this how you spend every evening? Entertaining random men?”
Y/N laughed lightly, placing a hand on Eunwoo's shoulder. "Eunwoo isn’t just any man, Jungkook. He’s been around longer than… well, longer than some people who think they’re important in my life.”
Eunwoo chuckled, leaning back on the couch with an ease that only made Jungkook more irritated. “I’d hate to be any trouble, but Y/N and I go way back. Just want to make sure she’s happy, you know?” He gave her a warm smile, completely ignoring Jungkook’s visible tension.
Jungkook’s jaw clenched as he took a step closer. “I think you’ve done enough.” His tone was cold as he looked at Eunwoo, eyes flashing with barely concealed jealousy. “Y/N doesn’t need… company like yours.”
“Oh, I disagree.” Y/N cut in, smiling sweetly as she glanced up at Jungkook. “Actually, Eunwoo’s been more attentive than… well, anyone else recently.” She tilted her head with an innocent look, even though she could see how much her words were getting under Jungkook’s skin.
Jungkook's gaze snapped back to her, his expression thunderous. "So this is what it’s come to? Dressing up, showing yourself off to anyone who comes by, just to get back at me?"
Y/N’s eyes sparkled with amusement as she sipped her soda, clearly enjoying how rattled he was. “Oh, please. If anyone here has been disrespectful, it’s you, Jungkook. You left me alone for weeks, and now you’re angry that I’m enjoying myself?” She looked over at Eunwoo, who gave her an encouraging nod.
