Luke's POV
"Luke, honey, wake up." A soft voice whispered, my body gently shaking.
I peeled one eye open, seeing my mum shaking me awake. Looking out the airplane window, I realized we already landed. I silently sighed, unbuckling the belt to the seat, and stood up, careful not to bump my head on the overhead bins above me. I slid out of the seat easily and grabbed my carry-on. My mum and I both waited until everybody was out, and then we started to exit the airplane. I was looking out the windows, the rain coming down hard as it painted the airplane with a clear outer coat of water. It was night out, but I don't know what time it was. It was early back in Australia, though. And hot there. It's almost winter here.
We exited the airplane, being greeted with the smell of fast food and a faint trace of cigars. The airport here was so different then the one back in Australia. Everything is so different. It's so simple here, but so different. We quickly made it to the baggage claim, our bags not arriving yet. Sighing, I take my phone out of my pocket and turn it back on. While it's turning on, I turn it around, stroking the 'We're All Mad Here' case with a tiny crack in the middle. Finally, the phone turned on and I checked the time. 1:43 AM in Seattle, Washington. I look at my background, smiling lightly. It was a picture of Ivy when she was .
"Luke, lets go. Our bags are here." My mum said, nudging me.
I put the phone away, grabbing my two suitcases and dragging them to the outside of the airport. I slightly crindged at the smell. It smelled like cigars and car oil. Not pleasant. My mum waved down a taxi and we got in, telling the man that we needed to go to a rental car place. I sighed, plugging in my earbuds and drowning out the world around me.
After what seemed like hours (and probably was) we arrived home in our rental car in a small town by the name of Graham, Washington. We had some trouble getting into the gated community, but we made it. We arrived at our move in ready home, the house dark until my mum flipped a switch on. I was in a long hallway, the garage door to the right of me and to the left was what looked like a dining room space. I walked up the stairs to my right by the garage door and saw a big room area. It was almost like another livingroom upstairs. The house was great, but it just wasn't the same. I sighed, going into the room by the loft area upstairs, and set my bags down.
I took off my shoes and hoodie, placing them beside me by the bed in the center of the room. I just stared at the bland ceiling. I didn't feel like going to sleep, but I didn't want to get up. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, going on safari. I decided to see what school I will be going to this year. Typing in 'Bethel School District' I immediately saw Bethel High School. I tapped on the page, starting to read all about Bethel High school.
I don't know when I fell asleep, but I did at some point of the night and I felt someone shaking me awake. Groaning, I opened my eyes slightly, spotting my mother.
"Yes, mum?" I asked groggily.
"Get up. We are going to Bethel High School today to register." She said, not giving me any time to respond before walking out.
Sighing, I looked out the window, seeing the sun just barely starting to come up. Furrowing my eyes in confusion, I looked out the window, seeing a girl in a hoodie and black skinny jeans with a backpack on walking down the road, listening to music. School starts at the crack of dawn? Great. I stood up, shivering as the cold air of fall hit me. It was only September, but it was cold already. I closed the window which was open and grabbed my hoodie off the ground, putting it on as I walked out of the room. There was already a couch in the center of the loft room, and a computer set up in one of the corners along with a TV mounted on the wall with the entertainment center.
Raising my eyebrows, I walked downstairs where my mum was waiting by the garage. Without saying a word, we walked out the front door and into her car. She started the engine, and started driving down a different road then the one we came last night.
"Mum, isn't the front gate the other way?" I asked, looking around at the different highschool and middleschool students walking the same direction that we were driving.
"Yes, but there's a second gate that you will be walking to every morning. That's your bus stop. It's really crowded there, so try to make some friends, okay, honey?" My mum asked me, glancing over at me.
I widened my eyes at how far I had to walk. It was almost a half a mile, and if I was fast enough, I can get there in 10 minutes.. but that's still a long walk. I usually only walk a few minutes to my bus stop in Australia. I was silent as we drove down the road, my mum's GPS telling us where to turn and everything. Soon, we arrived at the and it looked nice. Me and my mum parked in the nearly empty lot, walking into the front office.
I just stared at the ground the entire time my mum filled out paper work and talked. I just sat on the sofa, when a girl came it. It was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, yet she looks so familiar. Dyed red hair, piercing bright blue eyes, and pale skin. Her lips were a natural shade of cherry red, and she was tall and slender, yet at the same time busty. I couldn't help but stare as she emotionlessly walked into the back offices, going into the principals office. She had a tattoo on her arm that I could see through her slightly seethrough shirt, and lip piercings.
If she's going to the principals office and I didn't hear anything from the intercom, this must be a normal thing for her. I wonder what her name is, or her age. She has a great set of legs, that's for sure, tall and slender, covered by black jeans and her feet inside galaxy converse. I looked back down at my lap, hearing quiet mumbling from the office. After a few moments, it silenced and the door swung back open, revealing the girl again with still no emotion on her face. I looked up at the same moment she made eye contact with me.
She kinda just stood there for a split second, and I saw something come alive in her. And I felt something too. As if I knew her once. She was so familiar, yet, so different. And after not even speaking a word, not even getting her name, not even hearing her voice, I was falling for the mystery girl who goes to my school.
And she intruged me so much, it was strange. Never have I felt this way by just looking at someone. I had to get to know her. There's just something wrong with her, and I will find out.
