Ivy and Luke.
Luke and Ivy.
Them two? Inseperable. Joined to the hip. Best friends since diapers. Their moms are close.
Let me correct myself.
Were close. Mrs. Slemmings died from ovarian cancer only last month. It took a toll on both Luke and Ivy. Ivy now lives with her single aunt, her father having walked out of their lives when Ivy was only a month old. He walked out for another woman he had been cheating on Mrs. Slemmings with for about a year then. Now, Ivy being 13 years old along with Luke, she was left alone. She never really knew her aunt too well, so she spent most of her time at the Hemming's household, Liz being like a second mother to her. Ivy is still struggling to get over her mother, but Luke is helping her.
If you look at both of their rooms, they look ordinary. But each of them has left stuff at eachother's houses. Ivy has Luke's oversized "Teenage Runaway" sweatshirt that Ivy loves to wear. And Luke has half of a batman necklace that was originally supposed to go to someone else, but Ivy let Luke keep it.
Right now, it was like any other day. It was July 17th, the middle of summer in Australia. Ivy's ringtone rang out through the small room, and she saw 'Luke' and his face light up the screen of her phone. Quickly, she answered the phone."Yeah?" She said into the phone.
"Meet me at the treehouse? I'm bored." Luke whined from the other end of the phonecall
"Yeah. Be there in 10." She said before hanging up.
Luke smiled, getting dressed in a plain white tee-shirt and some black basketball shorts. He put on a beanie and his sneakers, and quietly climbed out the small window, his batman necklace shining in the moonlight. He jumped from the second story- which wasn't really that high -and landed in the grass below him. He looked across the street at Ivy's small house, her bedroom light turning on. He smiled again to himself. Quickly, he ran across the street and between the two fences of Ivy's house and the neighbors house. Ivy lived with the woods behind her, but all Luke had behind his house was another backyard to another house.
Luke sped past the end of the backyard, clearing the small space and jumped over the fence that seperated the houses and the forest. Quickly spotting the trail that Ivy a few years ago. He followed the narrow path, careful not to snag his arms or legs on any bushes or thorns sticking out. It was a short 5 minute walk, but he reached the clearing in no time. The was built on the tree in the center of the clearing. Ivy always claimed that it was like the tree in the middle of a clearing from some game. Skinnyman? No. Slenderman. That's what it was.
He climbed up the ladder, sitting on his own respectful blue beanbag. He clapped twice, the lights hanged around the top of the treehouse lighting up the inside. They managed to get electricity from a little electricity box behind one of the neigbor's houses that they don't use and wired it all the way out here. It lit up everything. Ivy usually beat Luke here, so he got to sit in here in silence for once.
He admired the pictures hanging around the walls. Some of Ivy, some of Luke, some of both or just random things. Ivy had drawing hanged on 'her corner' of the treehouse, along with the walls of 'her corner' painted with black and white quotes and drawings, even some abstract to fill in the blanks. Her red beanbag was in the corner, a tiny corner table next to it with closed paints on it and paper, pencils, anthing you would need to draw. The spare phone charger plugged into the wall with beanies hanging on hand-made hooks above it. I recoginzed one of them to be my beanie, and I sighed
