So just to let yall know, we will be in either Scratch's pov or Angelica's for the next few chapters. I want to build suspense for other factors

Scratch

I watched as Angelica and Zhen Lan talked to Brutus. I couldn't be bothered to listen all I could feel was excitement in my body.

I shouldn't be happy that she's been kidnapped but that means at least our journey isn't ending soon, maybe I can even get my hand on a stone charm.

"Well I see...due to my relationship with royal family I cannot go out of my way to help you but I can give you this..." Brutus pulls out a baggie from his pocket and gives it to Angelica.

"What is it?"

"Sprinkle some of this onto whatever item she left behind and it will turn into a trail leading you to her, it will stop at some point and you'll have to keep going on your own." The mage explains

We all nod and begin to leave.

"But before you go...try to leave through the backways, there's an impending war, I need to hope support our front line..."

"Oh right, thanks!" Zhen Lan says.

We finally leave and I think about what he said earlier. The impeding war is the one between the north and east kingdom, Esteria and Jerois.

I don't know why though, all four kingdoms had been at peace up until a couple of months ago, my father was in meeting with our nobility when they had gotten news.

My father was suspecting that there was some sort of rat between them, causing the issues and spreading lies.

One thing being the king of Esteria for some reason has withdrew his military and won't help out in battle, so these guys we saw back at the guild may have been knights left alone.

There's no fucking special test they have to take to become a knight the would require them to go out into these monstrous woods, it's all a lie.

Second this kingdom has started to unnecessarily expand its borders and spend copious amount of money. I mean having mages just out in the open helping the common folk is nice in all but most mages have a strict moral code and tend to shy away from common folk.

The ones in this kingdom probably can't even go back home if they wanted to, they would put the welfare of the other mages at risk, because while everything might look like sun shine and rainbows here, it's not.
