I sighed at the revelation of the situation and followed the others through the rest of the city.
It was a nice short stroll, the folks here are so lively and happy despite some unfortunate circumstances.
Way different to the Nobel society....
We finally reach the gate/ entrance into the city and stand staring at it for a minute.
"Alright guys this is it...no going back...well unless you left something at home or whatever" Alex says turning to look at us nervously.
I roll my eyes as the others seem nervous.
"Listen, we're only doing this because we a personal quest to complete, this quest may change the lives of many, so I need you to cut this whole..."homesick" act and keep walking" I sigh making hand gestures.
Alex's face turns red and he nods before pushing up the gates and opening them.
We begin our descent into the unexplored unknown.
"Alright, not sure if time is any different down here but I don't want to be walking around while it's dark out." Luna says.
We've been walking on a path we found for at least three hours now. We've stumbled upon some strange plants and normal animals.
I brought a notebook with me to keep track of anything remotely interesting.
It did seem like it was getting late, I could see little light hugs begin to flow around, the flowers staurizing and the light rays dimming.
But where could we sleep? I've never slept on the floor before, well at least not this kind of floor and I don't want to seem uptight.
"Yea, we should probably stop for now..." Angelica agrees.
Zhen Lan and Scratch sigh in relief and immediately sit down, they two have been talking each others ears off this whole trip.
I wish I could make friends that easily.
Wait, ew...why am I jealous of a man.? They make friends so easily because they're stupid and have no sense of morality, I've seen some nobility befriend their concubines...
I roll my eyes and sit down on the other side of them. The others following.
"Alright, I probably should've asked this before we left but do you guys have anything to sleep in?" Alex asks us.
We all shake our heads and he nods.
"No worries, I can create us a camp with my charm!" He declares. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a medium sized charm stone, it was green with little specks of pink in it.
"You can cast charms?!" Ellena exclaims.
"Yea? You guys can't? It's a necessity for adventuring..."
"No but I've got some basic combat skills" Scratch mentions.
"I as well, I had to defend myself in the household..." I mutter.
"Alright well, that's fine we can always train and learn along the way, but I remember you Naomi saying a few hours ago that you were only here for personal reasons, would it be too much to ask what reason?" Alex asks sitting down finally.
I look over at Angelica and she nods giving me an okay.
"We're dealing with an issue of life and death, my friend Angelica was almost killed whilst taking a sip of her tea a few weeks ago..." I begin.
"Killed?!" Luna exclaims, Nicole says nothing but stared with her beady eyes.
"Yes, it was done with some strange powder that her mages couldn't find a direct source, it wasn't until we got in contact with Patky over here that we found this powder is an ancient weapon....
...it not only kills people's but allows the user to control that persons body for a while before they eventually die...it was used in a Great War many years ago and all traces of it were to be destroyed but it seems it's come back, we were told we would have to find a wizard or witch in order to get the answer we are looking for...
...it didn't feel right letting the church or anyone of any higher status know about this so we snuck out...but we umm have interesting home life's so there shouldn't be any worry" I finish.
"Wow, you ran all the way from noble society just to help your friend?" Zhen lan retorts.
"That's nice, well we'll help you find that person!" Alexandre cheers.
They all begin talking again as Alex uses his powers to makeshift a space out of a tree, it wasn't much but it would have to do.
We start a fire and Nicole uses her charm stone to sew some blankets, I'm not even going to ask how or where she got the materials from.
Scratch, Ellena and Zhen lan went to go catch us a meal and me, Angelica and Alex are planning our path.
I've been keeping track of dates and marking our stops in the trees so that way we won't get lost. Everyone is in harmony doing their own thing to contribute as a whole, it feels nice being able to work with others and not feel like you're doing all the work or doing too little.
