Back in the kingdom, I sit through the council meeting in silence, my mind elsewhere. My father drones on about loyalty, honor, the burden of leadership-all things I've heard a thousand times. But for the first time, I don't feel the fire of purpose burning in me. All I feel is emptiness.

As the meeting concludes, I realize with a cold clarity that I can't stay here. Not if it means living a life of duty while denying the only thing that's ever made me feel alive.

That night, under the cover of darkness, I slip away from the kingdom and find myself in the forest, my heart racing as I search for her. I don't know what I'll say or how I'll fix the mess I've made, but I know that if I don't find her, I'll lose more than just a forbidden love.

I'll lose myself.

After what feels like hours, I finally find her, standing in a patch of moonlight, her back turned to me. I step forward, knowing I have no right to ask her forgiveness, but I can't hold back the words any longer.

"I know I don't deserve a second chance," I say, my voice rough and raw. "But I can't let you walk away, not like this."

She turns to face me, her expression unreadable. "Why, Bakugo? So you can keep hiding in the shadows, pretending this is just some game?" Her voice cracks, and the sound nearly breaks me.

"No," I whisper, stepping closer, my heart hammering in my chest. "Because you're the only one who sees me-really sees me. And I don't want to lose that. I don't want to lose you."

The silence stretches between us, charged and fragile. Then, slowly, she reaches out, her fingers brushing mine, and I feel the spark of hope rekindling in my chest.

Maybe we'll face war and fury for this choice, maybe we'll lose everything-but in this moment, with her hand in mine, I know it's worth the risk.
