Weeks later, Hollow Creek was quiet.
The town had changed. The disappearances stopped, and the heavy, oppressive air that had hung over the town for generations was gone. The forest stood still, its once-threatening presence reduced to nothing more than trees and shadows.
Lana stood at the edge of the woods, her eyes scanning the treelike. The whispers were gone. For the first time in her life, she felt a sense of peace. She had broken the curse.
As she turned to leave, Lana felt the weight of the past lift from her shoulders. She had faced the darkness and survived. And though the scars of what she had endured would never fully fade, she knew that Hollow Creek was free.
But as she walked away, the wind stirred through the trees, carrying with it a single, faint whisper.
''I'll be waiting.''
Lana paused, her heart skipping a beat. She shook her head, refusing to believe it. The forest was dead. The whispers were gone. But as she walked back to her car, a chill ran down her spine. Somewhere, deep within the forest, something still lingered.
Waiting.
