"Zhongzhu, why have we come here exactly?""Have you ever heard of Yiling Patriarch?"
"I've heard the people speak about him when I go to the market. They said he was a tyrant, a man with unexplainable tendencies to ruin the cultivation world." The other said as they came off their rides leading to the City. The two year old Sect Leader scoffed a laugh. "That's what everyone will say, some are different. But those a just stories..."
"But he did die for his crimes, right?"
The other sighed and hummed. "Yes, he did die for his crimes."
"So what was his crimes? If what you said is true and their just stories, why did he die?"
That too is something the Sect Leader wanted to know.

Jiang Cheng had it rough. Some may say he was no indifferent from them when Wei Wuxian went over that cliff. Ever since then, it's been unbearable dread building up in him. He wanted answers, he really did.
He won't downgrade the fact he did blame Wei Wuxian, he did need someone to blame for he didn't believe anyone. His home was burnt, many have died their bodies in piles.
His mother was lost, his father damaged beyond repair. He only managed to survive off of pure luck which he was grateful for. When his home burnt, him and Wei Wuxian disappeared from the other. Jiang Cheng didn't know where he was, he needed him.
Filled with grief and holding the last remnant of his mother, he wasn't in the right mind. Wen Chao had found him, told him how Wei Wuxian left him, how he left him to run for his own self.
Selfish...
He'd whisper.
He left you for dead.
He'd say. The words hurt, his anger was fueled and he saw that face of pure devastation, of hurt and sorrow something in the young Jiang's hear broke. Something wasn't right, it wasn't.
Inside he didn't feel right when he woke the next morning, he couldn't even go to his sister for he knew she would anger with him for even allowing them to that to Wei ying, for letting them get their way without proof.
And she was, and still is, he knew it. As she gotten married to that peacock, they drifted. He never reached out having seen his sister break down. When he saw it, he got even more livid.
This is his fault.
All his fault.
He should have been there. Why wasn't he there when I needed him. Now look what he's done.
Stupid. Stupid!
Jiang Cheng closed his eyes, fingers reaching for the ring on his finger to roll and rub at the cold material, the familiar touch of Zidian going through his finger tips in waves. He grimaced.
He felt stupid in the end. Things didn't add up the more the days counted. The two years were slowly turning into two and Jiang Cheng had to get answers.
Why will Wei ying do such a sacrifice himself, as his sister had put it. He knew his parents weren't the best to him, him either with his own selfishness storming him when he was younger. Wei Wuxian was stronger than him, strong willed, eager to do things, not even trying yet still doing better.
He used to feel envious, used to loathe him for it but inside he'll applaud him, cheer him own as he was his sworn brother.
But he was stupid.
