Broken Enough

" Rogue Cultivator? "

He was fast, Jiang Cheng thought.

By the time him and Hai Tao left the inside of Tianhua City, the person in red was already gone.

"How did he!-"

There was a roar of pain coming from the east of them and both of them raced to it. The clashing between the two were loud, almost ground shaking.

Jiang Cheng can hear the beast scream and shout at the Masked Hero, how he was faster than expected and if their God even wished to fight him instead.

The Masked Hero didn't indulge in his talking, just whipped his scimitar that glistedn somehow, the handle made chims and jingles as if chains were on them, and each time it hits the beast it would ring, causing a burst of energy to expell.

Jiang Cheng has never seen something like this. His core must have been very strong.

"We should help, shouldn't we?"

Jiang narrowed his eyes.

"I don't think he needs us." He whispered as he watched this Hero absolutely destroy the beast, each cut was deeper than the next, black blood falling down the large gaping wounds.

"But!-"

"Hai Tao, watch for a second." Jiang Cheng shushed him and moved him closer so he can see the fight better. He was quick, very quick, practically disappearing. He twirled in the air, dancing around the crushing hits and aiming for puncture points that broke skin.

"YOU-y-YOU Bastard!!" He caughted and fell to the floor, releasing the female he was holding onto in the process. He growled and tried to capture her back only for the Masked Hero to take her.

When they blinked, the female was in Jiang Cheng's arms.

"Hold her." He said before he goes running off once again and dealing one more damaging blow to the beast.

Jiang Cheng looked into his arms to see the woman, passed out and looked absolutely scared in her sleep. He cradled her close, protecting her incase he needed to carry her to safety or give her to Hai Tao.

The Hai Tao now staring. He smacked him in the head.

"If the world was falling will you stare at a woman?! Stop it you creep." He sneered, glaring at Hai Tao as if he was the cause of his mood. Hai Tao frowned. "Aw, come one I was just looking. She's very pretty, couldn't I admire."

"Not when she's unconscious. Now stop being uncomfortable and focus on the fight ahead."

"He's won."

Jiang Cheng stalled for a second before he turned to the battle field. He did infact won, standing before the dead monster still leaking of black blood.

He then came running over and past them.

"Better run, he's about to explode." He shouted and both Jiang Cheng and Hai Tao looked behind each other and their eyes widened with shock to see the body bubbling up like a bag being blown up.

"Oh, well look at that."

"Come on!"

There was a pop, then a crunch and the entire creature combusted into black goo and golden dust. Jiang Cheng and Hai Tao almost didn't make it time, their bodies feeling the gust and then a tree located close to the blast was uprooted and thrown at them.

Two hands grabbed them and the girl and moved them to the side, just behind the wall as of the City.

When it all died down, Hai Tao opened his eyes, Jiang Cheng heaving slowly before opening his own. Never had he felt so helpless and winded but he did. He now noticed how his arms were empty and the red masked hero was walking off with her.
