An orange Lamborghini caught the attention of the people standing outside the most prestigious hospital of the country, Global Medical City, that caters politicians, successful entrepreneurs, renowned actors, and powerful people in general.

It went to the parking lot reserved for VIPs and doctors working in the said hospital.

A stunning woman, looking more like a model than a doctor, walk out the luxury car. Her aura screams power. With a height of 5 foot 10, she is easily towering everyone she passes by.

The hospital staffs greeted her with pleasantries and the doctor nodded politely. Despite looking intimidating, everyone that works in the hospital knows that the doctor doesn't only upholds power but also humility.

"Good morning, Dr. Kash. Here's your coffee.", her secretary, Nurse Jennie handed her her usual coffee to start her day.

"Thank you, Jennie. Any scheduled meeting with clients?", the doctor opened her work device and check her emails.

"Dr. Selene cancelled all your scheduled appointments today and she wanted to meet you in her office."

"Why did she want to meet me?", the doctor asked, confused by her mother's unexpected actions.

"She didn't tell me the reason, doc. She wants you in her office at 8 in the morning."

"Good morning, Mom. Why the sudden meeting?", the doctor affectionately hug her mother.

"Hello, honey. Did you have your breakfast?", her mother smiled at her as she gesture her daughter to sit in the couch of her office.

"I had coffee. Why did you cancel all my appointments today?". She's not fond of beating around the bush but this is her beloved mother. Of course, she needs to wait patiently.

"We haven't had our time together ever since you came back from US. Am I not allowed to miss my lovely daughter?", her mother smiled. The kind of smile that soothes her.

She held her mother's hand, "I'm sorry, Mommy. I always have a tight schedule.".

"I understand, honey. You father also wants to talk with you. I think he has a task for you but of course, I asked him if I could borrow you first before he drop it.", the old doctor laugh. She really miss her daughter who just only got back 3 months ago after living and studying in the US for more than a decade.

"We could just wait for Dad here then.", the doctor rarely smile but in some occasions when she did, it really reaches her eyes.

Kashiopeia Cassandra Kwong, a 30 year old neurologist, is the future CEO of Global Medical City. Despite being the middle child of the country's renowned doctors, Dr. Anthony and Dr. Selene Kwong, only Kash (within the family she is called Cassy), showed interest in medicine at a young age so couple decided to train her as the next in line.

Kash lived a pretty normal life in her home country. Top student that never experienced being in the second spot; president of various organizations in her school; Editor-in-chief of their school gazette; and on top of that, she still had the energy to be the team captain of volleyball team.

She is definitely the perfect daughter that your parents probably compare you to.

All these achievements masked the fact that she is homosexual. She realized it when her mother decided to enroll her to an all-girls Catholic school because she wanted her perfect daughter away from the distraction brought by boys.

When her parents found out about her sexuality, that may be the first time she made them disappointed. She will never forget the night when her mother found out.

"She is your what?!", the tired Dr. Selene angrily asked, still couldn't process the conversation she is having with her lovely daughter.

"She is my girlfriend, mommy.", the 15 year old Kash is trembling in fear as her secret is now revealed to her mother.

"I enrolled you to an all-girls school because I want you away from boys and focus on your studies, and now you're telling me you got yourself a girlfriend?". The doctor is not shouting, but the words coming out of her mouth is sharper than a samurai.

"I'm still the top of my class, mommy. I excell in every subjects. Won a gold medal in nationals. I'm no—"

"I don't care! My point is you shouldn't be in a relationship, especially with a girl. You're a girl, too!"

Young Kash ran upstairs and locked herself in her room. This is the reason why she doesn't want anyone to know about her having a relationship with a girl. But she can't help it. She always knew she was different. While her peers are gushing about the latest boy band and basketball players from other schools, she was looking at this particular stunning senior cheerleader from the bench.

She heard a knock in her door. She pretended to be asleep.

"It's daddy, my love. Let me in, please?", she heard her father's calm and sweet voice.

She hesitated to open it but she did. Her father saw how swollen her eyes are from crying. He touch her tear stained cheeks and hug her daughter tight. Her sisters, Andy and Sol, went inside too.

They were all sitting on the carpet of Kash's room. Kash is snuggling to her older sister, Andy's neck as her youngest sister, Sol, was rubbing her back.

"I already know, my love. Even before your mom found out.", her father calmly said, offer her his smile.

"You're not angry at me, dad?", Kash asked.

"Of course not. You are my daughter. I see you beyond that."

"We accept you, ate Cass. We love you.", Sol, the youngest, hugged her sister too.

"Then why can't mom accept me too?", Kash said, sobbing.

"Let her emotions cool down. You know she can't stand being angry at you for a long time. Your mommy loves you dearly. She loves all of you. She may not be a perfect mother to all of you, but she is doing her best."

She's grateful for having a wonderful sisters and a supportive father. She could only hope her mother is like that too. She spent her entire life pleasing her mother and while she look so proud when Kash talked about her achievements, Kash saw that deep beyond her mother's loving eyes, it will never be enough.

And so she broke up with her girlfriend that night. She texted her using her flip phone and even if it is against her will, she avoided her then-girlfriend until that girl graduated from high school. Kash spent her last year in high school making up to the night she made her mother angry and disappointed at her.

Her hard work payed off as she graduated the valedictorian of her class, with impressive marks that landed her several scholarships from prestigious universities abroad.

That's when she promised will never be distracted by love again.
