This is a fluff scene (not canon) from Haikyuu!!
---------------------------------
The sun was setting, casting a warm golden glow over the gym. Practice had ended, and while most of the team had cleared out, Kageyama and Hinata remained, still caught up in their shared enthusiasm for volleyball.
"Come on, Kageyama! Just one more time!" Hinata bounced on his toes, his energy seemingly endless. His eyes sparkled with determination as he held a volleyball tightly against his chest.
Kageyama rolled his eyes, trying to suppress a smile. "You've already missed the last ten spikes. Maybe we should work on your timing instead."
Hinata huffed, crossing his arms. "I just need the perfect set! You can do it, I know you can!"
With a sigh, Kageyama nodded, giving in. "Fine. But if you mess up again, we're done for today."
"Yes!" Hinata exclaimed, his face lighting up as he ran to the end of the court, ready to receive the ball.
Such a cute tangerine, Kageyama thought as he positioned himself behind the service line, taking a deep breath to steady his focus.
"Get ready!" he shouted, tossing the ball into the air and leaping into his jump serve. The ball flew with precision, and Hinata rushed forward, timing his jump perfectly this time. With a satisfying smack, he connected with the ball, sending it soaring over the net.
"Yeah!" Hinata cheered, pumping his fist in the air. He turned to Kageyama, beaming. "Did you see that? I did it!"
Kageyama felt a warmth spread through his chest at Hinata's infectious excitement. "Yeah, you actually did it right," he replied, a hint of pride in his voice. "But don't get too cocky. One good spike doesn't mean you're ready for a match."
Hinata pouted, but Kageyama could see the playful spark in his eyes. "I'll show you! Next time, I'll be even better!"
"Just make sure to keep practicing," Kageyama said, stepping closer, their shoulders brushing together. "You can't rely on luck."
Hinata's smile widened, and he tilted his head, a mischievous glint in his eye. "And you can't rely on being a grouch all the time!"
"Grouch? I'm not a grouch!" Kageyama protested, though he couldn't help but smirk. "I just want to win."
"Me too!" Hinata said, bouncing on his feet. "And with you as my setter, I know we can do it together!"
Kageyama felt a rush of warmth at that, the sincerity in Hinata's words hitting him hard. He blushed as he said, "Yeah. Together."
As they stood there, the gym slowly emptying around them, Hinata suddenly turned serious, his eyes wide. "Hey, Kageyama?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for always believing in me," he said softly. "Even when I mess up."
Kageyama blinked, taken aback by the sincerity. "Of course. You're my teammate."
Hinata stepped closer, the distance between them shrinking. "And maybe... my best friend?" Or boyfriend.
"Yeah, my best friend," Kageyama replied, feeling his heart sink.
In that moment, the air felt charged with something more, something that made Kageyama's cheeks heat up. He quickly looked away, trying to hide his embarrassment. "Okay, let's finish up before it gets too late. We still have a lot to work on."
"Right!" Hinata said, his excitement returning. "One more round? Please?"
Kageyama chuckled, nodding. "Fine. But you better make it count this time."
"Always!" Hinata replied, his smile brighter than the setting sun.
As they resumed practice, laughter and shouts filled the gym, and for Kageyama, nothing felt more perfect than sharing these moments with Hinata.
