Since Thanksglimmering had been on the 22nd of Supernovamber, and three days have now passed since then, Velvet only had five days to prevent the family from going to the farm. Veneer would never understand why his sister hated that place so much. To him, it was paradise. The fresh air, the animals, and especially his grandparents! He loved everything about his family. "Vel, why're you trying to keep us from going? It's awesome there! Also, why are you packing if you don't wanna go?"
"Veneer, I'm not packing because I'm going. I'm packing because I'm running away from the trip. You might think it's awesome there, but I don't. Deal with me."
"Sis, look on the bright side! We get to skip out on school for a whole month!"
"What if I don't want to? I like it there. I don't get in as much trouble, and we have friends! I'm really gonna miss Orchid, Kyle, Jinx, and Ted."
"What about Ritz?"
"Oh yeah, that sucker too."
Veneer sighed and decided to try another approach. "Vel, you know that no matter what you try, you'll always end up going to the farm with us. But maybe it won't be that bad. Maybe Desire is less of a menace now. And there might be something you'd hate to miss out on."
"You might have a point. But if you're wrong, then I'm gonna tell mom that you were the one who broke the coffee maker."
Veneer swallowed hard, now afraid of the punishment. But he instantly changed his attitude. "This is gonna be so much fun!"
"If we're not gonna be at home, I'm gonna have to leave Sparkle Claus a forwarding address."
Velvet then began writing a note that read, "Dear Sparkle Claus, we are not here this Glitzmas. We'll be at Opalescent Orchard."
Veneer smiled. "That was really considerate, Vel!"
"Well, I don't want Sheendeer sh!t in my stocking."
"Fair enough. By the way, Dad said we're leaving in two days. It does take a while to get there."
"What?! You could have started with that!"
"I'm sorry, I just got distracted. Again."
"You really need to work on that. I'm gonna put this note on the chimney."
Velvet got up to hang the note by the fireplace. Veneer finished packing up his stuff and even cleaned up his side of the room so it could be neat when he got home. His sister, on the other hand, couldn't care less about that. Their parents started to load the bags containing the less important items into the car, along with the presents, which they had to hide. It was going to be a long car trip, but it couldn't be that bad, right? Right?
