Ch 103 - Devils and Hosts

Alex placed his hand on Julius's chest and muttered. "It will hurt so bear with it."

"Hey, what are you doing?" Mereoleona asked.

"Taking care of a hidden danger for the kingdom!" Alex replied and activated 'Devour' on Julius.

Instantly a terrifying ferocious darkness covered both Alex and Julius, penetrating the body of the latter.

Julius felt a piercing pain that kept him from keeping his consciousness awake as he asked.

"Hidden danger? Is it me...?"

"Not you. But the alter soul that is sleeping inside your body. I am talking to you, Lucius Zogratis!"

Alex spoke coldly as he grabbed something inside Julius' body.

Suddenly, Julius's voice changed replaced by a mysterious yet charming voice.

"What an annoying variable! Maybe I should kill you! You have no place in my perfect world!"

Julius raised his hand and touched Alex with his finger but even after a few seconds nothing happened.

"How could this be?" Julius asked in shock.

Alex grinned and pulled it out, chuckling. "Even the combination of your three young siblings can't touch a strand of my hair, for you think you can? Your Soul magic is good, I'll use it well."

Alex stared at the small intangible thing in his palm and crushed it. "Don't cause trouble for everyone with your presence."

"Rhya, heal him!" Alex spoke.

Rhya immediately cast the light magic spell and headed Julius's life-threatening wound.

"Wh... What did you just do? And what was that thing?" Mereoleona asked curiously. Not many things could shock her like that but the different voice and behavior of Julius really surprised her.

After Julius was healed, he stood up slowly and looked at Alex for an answer.

Alex looked at the three pairs of eyes staring at him hard and he sighed.

"As you all know, humans are not the only race living in this world. There are Driads, Elves, Fishman, and more but among all races, there is only one race that is not allowed to live on the mainland. That race dwelled in the depth of the underworld and messed with our world from there..."

"Which race is it?" Julius asked, his curiosity was piqued.

"Devils!" Alex replied.

Julius and Mereoleona showed various reactions from confusion to surprise when they heard about it.

Rhya was puzzled as he had never heard about such a race before in his life. Even though Alex had told him once already he still couldn't tell whether it was real or not.

Alex had predicted their reactions and continued. "Whatever happens between humans and Elves a century ago, the real ring leader was actually a high-ranking devil. He originally wanted to turn Licht to the dark side and then snatch his body. But as you all are aware... Licht used an ancient forbidden spell to turn himself into a demon. The first magic emperor, Lemiel used his light magic to slay it. After the demon was slain, Licht again regained his control over his body and stopped himself. After that, he asked Lemiel's help to seal him away..."

Alex took out his grimoire and waved it around. "This grimoire actually belonged to Licht and my swords too. In terms of talent, he really was one of the best. No wonder the devil used humans' greed to attain his goals."

"So, that's what happened in the past a hundred years ago. It is really... so disappointing." Julius commented sadly.

Mereoleona scoffed coldly. "Disappointing? Hmph! It is completely disgusting. They even sacrificed the princess to gain the magic power of the Elves. I really want to punch them to death."
