After brunch, Jimin and Jungkook parted ways with Soojin, each letting out a sigh of relief once they were alone. They walked side by side down the quiet, tree-lined street leading back to Jimin's place. The silence between them felt comforting, a reprieve from the strain of Soojin's relentless presence.

Jungkook broke the silence first. "I really didn't expect her to show up like that. She's... she's been acting strange lately."

Jimin glanced over, a hint of worry in his eyes. "Do you think she's trying to win you back?"

Jungkook paused, considering the question before answering, "I don't know. I thought she had moved on, but now... I can't tell." He looked at Jimin, his gaze sincere. "I just know that I don't want her coming between us."

Jimin took a deep breath, trying to quell the mixture of frustration and vulnerability bubbling inside him. "I don't want her to, either. But it feels like I'm constantly trying to prove I deserve to be here."

Jungkook stopped, gently taking Jimin's hand. "You don't have to prove anything, Jimin. Not to her, and certainly not to me. I'm here with you, by choice."

Jimin's heart warmed at Jungkook's words, and he squeezed his hand in silent gratitude. They continued their walk, with Jimin quietly sorting through his emotions, feeling both reassured and uneasy.

Later that evening, back at home, Jimin decided he needed to clear his head. He walked to the little garden behind his house, surrounded by wildflowers and old, wooden fences that bordered the property. The garden had always been his place to think, a safe haven where he could let his mind wander without interruption.

As he paced among the flowers, he thought back to his initial hesitation about getting involved with Jungkook. He had wanted something simple, unburdened by the shadows of anyone's past, and yet here he was, tangled up in emotions he hadn't anticipated.

Just then, he heard a soft rustling behind him. He turned, and to his surprise, found Jungkook standing at the garden gate, his face partially hidden in the evening shadows.

"Mind if I join you?" Jungkook asked, his tone soft.

"Not at all," Jimin replied, watching as Jungkook stepped closer.

They sat down on an old stone bench nestled under a large oak tree. The night air was cool, carrying the scent of jasmine and damp earth, and for a while, neither of them spoke. The silence was comfortable, almost necessary, until Jungkook finally broke it.

"I've been thinking," he started, his voice barely a whisper. "I know things have been complicated with Soojin around, but I don't want that to stop us from moving forward."

Jimin looked up, his gaze meeting Jungkook's in the dim light. "What do you mean?"

Jungkook took a steadying breath. "I want us to be more than just... whatever this is right now. I want to be sure of us, no matter what happens."

Jimin's heart skipped a beat at Jungkook's confession. He had wanted this too, but fear of the unknown, of things unraveling, had held him back.

"Jungkook..." Jimin started, his voice trembling slightly. "I feel the same way. But it's hard when she keeps showing up like this, reminding me of everything you two once had."

Jungkook nodded, understanding the vulnerability in Jimin's words. "I'll talk to her. Make things clear." He hesitated, then added, "You're the one I want, Jimin. Not her."

A wave of relief washed over Jimin as he leaned into Jungkook, resting his head on his shoulder. They sat together in the stillness, letting the reality of their connection sink in. It felt like the first step toward something solid, something they could build on, despite the shadows that still lingered.
