A few weeks had passed since Jungkook's conversation with Soojin, and things between him and Jimin were settling into a comfortable rhythm. They spent their days exploring the town together, sharing quiet dinners, and savoring the simplicity of their relationship. It felt natural, like they were finally building something they both wanted. One evening, as Jimin was preparing dinner, his phone buzzed with an unknown number. Curiosity got the best of him, and he picked up, his smile fading when he heard the voice on the other end.
"Jimin?" Soojin's voice was calm but edged with something he couldn't quite place. "I didn't expect you to answer."
Jimin gripped his phone, trying to keep his composure. "Soojin. Why are you calling me?"
There was a pause, then she continued, "I just thought you should know. Jungkook and I, we've been through a lot together. I don't think he's told you everything."
Jimin's chest tightened, but he kept his voice steady. "I know he's been honest with me."
"Are you sure?" Soojin asked, her tone almost mocking. "Jungkook is complicated. Sometimes he hides things, even from himself."
Jimin clenched his jaw, struggling to keep his emotions in check. "Look, I don't know what you're trying to do, but whatever it is, it's not going to work."
Soojin let out a soft laugh. "Just don't say I didn't warn you."
With that, she hung up, leaving Jimin with a mix of anger and doubt simmering beneath the surface. He trusted Jungkook, but her words had left an unsettling feeling in his chest. He knew he needed to talk to Jungkook, to clear any lingering doubts.
Later that night, when Jungkook arrived at Jimin's place, he immediately sensed something was off. "Jimin, are you okay?"
Jimin hesitated, then took a deep breath. "Soojin called me."
Jungkook's expression darkened. "What did she say?"
"She implied that you hadn't told me everything. That... you were hiding things." Jimin's voice trembled slightly, the vulnerability in his words cutting through the tension. "I want to believe you, Jungkook. But I need to hear it from you."
Jungkook stepped closer, taking Jimin's hands in his own, his gaze sincere. "Jimin, I swear, I've been completely honest with you. Soojin... she doesn't want to accept that it's over, and she's trying to cause problems between us."
Jimin's eyes softened as he looked at Jungkook, searching for any hint of doubt. But all he saw was sincerity, a steady reassurance that melted away the anxiety in his chest. "I believe you," he whispered, feeling the tension drain from his body.
Jungkook wrapped his arms around Jimin, holding him close. "Thank you for trusting me. I know Soojin has been difficult, but I won't let her come between us. You're the one I want to be with."
Jimin leaned into the embrace, his heart feeling lighter. "I'm sorry for doubting you. It's just... this is new for me. I'm not used to feeling this way about someone."
Jungkook smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Me neither. But I think we'll figure it out, together."
They stood in silence, holding each other, letting the moment ground them. They knew that there would be challenges ahead, but they also knew they had something worth fighting for.
It was well past midnight when Jimin stirred awake, the soft glow of moonlight streaming through his bedroom window. He turned over to see Jungkook lying beside him, his face illuminated in the pale light, but his eyes were open, staring up at the ceiling with a distant expression.
"Jungkook?" Jimin whispered, reaching out to gently touch his arm. "Are you okay?"
Jungkook blinked, as if coming out of a trance, and turned to face Jimin. He gave a small, reassuring smile, but Jimin could sense the weight of something unsaid in his gaze. "Couldn't sleep," Jungkook admitted, his voice quiet.
Jimin propped himself up on his elbow, studying him with concern. "Is it about Soojin?"
Jungkook let out a sigh, his gaze dropping to the blanket between them. "In a way. She... she reminds me of my past. Things I haven't told you about yet."
Jimin waited patiently, sensing that Jungkook was on the verge of opening up. He reached out, covering Jungkook's hand with his own, giving him the silent reassurance he needed.
Jungkook took a deep breath, his expression vulnerable. "Before Soojin, I was in another relationship. It was serious... at least for me. I was ready to build a future with them. But they... they didn't feel the same way. They left, and it made me feel like I wasn't enough."
Jimin's heart ached at the sadness in Jungkook's voice. He squeezed his hand, encouraging him to continue.
"After that, I became more guarded. I thought I'd healed by the time I met Soojin, but... I think I was just trying to fill a void." He glanced up, his eyes meeting Jimin's. "I don't want to make the same mistake again. With you, it's different. I feel things I didn't know I could feel anymore. But sometimes, that scares me."
Jimin's thumb traced gentle circles on the back of Jungkook's hand, grounding him. "Thank you for telling me," he said softly. "I can't imagine how hard that must've been. But I'm here now, and I'm not going anywhere."
A small smile broke through the sadness in Jungkook's eyes as he reached up, brushing a hand along Jimin's cheek. "You make me feel safe, Jimin. Like I don't have to hide who I am."
Jimin leaned into his touch, his heart swelling with a mix of affection and gratitude. "Then don't hide. Not from me."
They lay in silence for a while, their fingers intertwined, letting the quiet of the night settle around them. Jimin felt closer to Jungkook than ever, knowing he'd been trusted with a piece of his past. The distance that Soojin had tried to create between them felt insignificant now, like a shadow that couldn't touch the light they'd found together.
As the first light of dawn began to creep through the window, Jimin pressed a soft kiss to Jungkook's forehead. "We'll take it one day at a time. Whatever happens, we'll face it together."
Jungkook's eyes softened as he whispered, "Together."
