The movie marathon has been paused, and the room is filled with an expectant silence. JOSH and MIMI sit on the couch, their eyes darting between each other and TAEYLN, who is pacing back and forth. The soft rain outside taps against the window, adding to the tension.
Josh breaking the silence. "Taelyn, you've been acting weird all night. What's going on?"
Mimi mentions. "Yeah, if this is about that thing you hinted at earlier, it's time to come clean."
TAEYLN stops pacing and takes a deep breath. She glances at her friends, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity. There's no going back now.
"You're right. I need to tell you the truth. But promise me, whatever I say, you'll keep it a secret. No one else can know."
JOSH and MIMI exchange a glance, then nod in unison.
"We promise." Josh smiles.
"Cross our hearts." Mimi replied, smiling again.
TAEYLN sighs, sitting down on the arm of a chair, facing them.
"A few days ago, I was at school, working in the lab on a project. Everything was normal until I got caught between two electric panels. I thought I could handle it, but then..." She pauses, eyes distant. "I was hit with a shock so powerful it knocked me out. When I woke up, everything was different."
JOSH and MIMI's eyes widen, leaning forward. "Different how?"
Taelyn shifts uneasily. "At first, I thought it was nothing. But then I started noticing things: my reflexes were faster, I could move at speeds I never thought possible, and sometimes... sparks. Literal sparks would jump from my fingers when I got emotional or stressed."
Mimi eyes widening. "Are you saying... you have powers?"
TAEYLN nods slowly, looking down at her hands.
"I didn't want to believe it, but there's no other explanation. The electric shock changed me. It's like I'm... wired differently now."
The room falls into stunned silence. JOSH runs a hand through his hair, trying to process what he just heard.
"This is insane. Are you... are you okay, though? I mean, is it hurting you?" Josh asked.
Taelyn smiles faintly. "No, it's not painful. Just... hard to control. And that's why you both need to keep this between us. If anyone finds out, it could be dangerous, for me and everyone around me."
Mimi reaches out and squeezes TAEYLN's arm. "Of course, we'll keep your secret. You don't have to worry about that."
"Yeah, we're in this with you. But, Taelyn, you should let us help. If things get out of hand, we need to be ready." Josh said.
TAEYLN's eyes well up with relief at their support. She hadn't realized just how much she needed to hear those words.
"Thank you. I can't do this alone, and knowing I have you both... it means everything."
