Hyunjin POV
"Where's Jeongin?" As I said that, his face seemed to sadden a little. He kept staring at his glass of soju, not saying anything for a short while. His upset expression quickly turned into an empty one as he took his shot of soju and drank it quickly.
"I don't know. Probably with the girl he cheated on me with." He gave a faint laugh, then poured himself another shot.
I didn't expect his response at all. Although it was obvious they had broken up, I didn't think this was the reason. I was shocked, with no idea what to say. I was deeply disappointed in Jeongin for doing such a thing, and saddened that Bang Chan, who seemed so into him, had been hurt.
"The morning when you saw me in the store early, that's when I found out. I needed to leave home and distract myself. And you helped me with that, Hyunjin. Thanks a lot."
"So, how are you feeling now?" Oh my god, how could I be so dumb? How could I ask something like that? I wanted to dig a deep, deep hole and just bury myself. For real, how would anyone feel after finding out their partner had been cheating on them? I couldn't believe I'd made an already bad situation even more awkward.
"Honestly, better than expected. I'd probably be sad if we just broke up with no cheating involved. But like this, I just can't miss someone who'd betray me again and again." With that, he took another shot, emptying the whole bottle. "Hyunjin-ah, bring another one."
Oh, the ordering me around is back. I smiled a little and asked Jinyoung for another bottle of soju.
We kept drinking, and after a few shots, I started to get pretty drunk. Although Bang Chan had already had more before I sat with him, he still looked alright. The lights blurred, the music sounded louder, and Chan's face looked so handsome. I hadn't really checked him out before. Of course, I'd known since day one that he was good-looking, but I'd never looked at every inch of his face for so long, with so much care and attention. His eyes, nose, face shape, and lips all matched together so perfectly.
"What you looking at?" His voice brought me back to reality—I should probably stop staring at my boss.
"Looking at you, sorry."
"You like what you seein, huh?" He gave me a smirk, which instantly made my heart beat faster, and I could feel my face getting hot. I was speechless, so I just drank some soju. He laughed a little, then did the same. I did like what I was seeing.
"Yeah, I thought so."
"Wait, did I say that out loud?"
"No, but your reaction's a bit obvious, don't you think, Hyunjin-ah?" He gave me an even hotter smirk than before. He looked really handsome, but why was he making me feel this way? I needed some more soju, just to make sure I wouldn't remember any of my stupid thoughts tomorrow. I didn't want to remember how he made my heart flutter.
"It's kinda weird. I lost Jeongin not too long ago, but my mind is already focused on someone else."
"As you should, Chan. Get that boy."
"I surely will." He smiled and looked deeply into my eyes, which made my heart melt completely. But why did this one sentence make me jealous of his already developing new crush? Why was I reacting like this?
We had one more bottle of soju, and after that, my memories became way too blurry. I don't recall what I did or said; I only remember listening to Chan's sweet voice and being lost in all his charms.
