Hyunjin POV

A couple of days have passed since my first encounter with our manager, Bang Chan. This is really not how I expected him to be. Everyone in the store is so kind and friendly, and then there's him—so arrogant, bossy, and just straight-up annoying. I try not to pay too much attention and focus on my friends instead, but I just cannot ignore it. Anytime he sees an empty cup on a table, a napkin on the floor, dirty plates to wash, or a splash of water on the bathroom mirror, he immediately asks me to deal with it. As if I were the only one working in the store, as if everything was always only ever my fault. It really drains my energy, and I'm not as excited to come to work as I once was.

Today is Jisung's and my day off, so we decided to go for coffee. How ironic, isn't it? I just arrived at the place and saw Jisung coming from the other side of the street. We went in and ordered our drinks. I went for an iced latte, and he got an iced americano.

"Jisung-ah, I'm so tired. Work lately has been more exhausting. Also, Bang Chan is annoying me so much. I think I'm doing my best, yet he's still treating me way worse than the rest of you guys."

"Maybe he just needs more time to see that you are indeed working well. I've seen some tension between the two of you, but actually, he cares a lot about the workers and the store as well."

"He might care about the shop, but about me? I'm not sure. Did he behave like this with you in the beginning too?"

"Hmmm, actually not really. He has always been nice to me. Of course, he's been bossy, but I wouldn't consider it to be rude."

Him saying that made me feel even worse. So, it's really only me who gets this treatment. It mainly makes me feel annoyed, but deep down, also very sad. I do everything he asks, and I get no praise or even acknowledgment—just more and more tasks and criticism.

"Look, if it's really bothering you, maybe I or Jeongin could talk to him?"

"No, I'm scared that will just make matters worse. Guess I'll just have to ignore his comments. I don't want you and Jeongin to get in trouble."

"Oh, Hyunjinnie, me and Jeongin would never get in trouble." Jisung gave me a weird look followed by a small laugh.

"Okay, I get Jeongin; they're dating or whatever is going on between them. But you? What's up with you and the boss?"

"Hehe, maybe I'll tell you one day." Jisung smiled, making me confused. Although I was very curious, I thought it best not to ask.

I spent the rest of the day with Jisung. We went shopping, I bought some new clothes and a new perfume. Jisung also bought clothes and even a new pair of shoes. Later in the day, we went for dinner at a new table grill restaurant, and then we both went home. It was a nice day to spend with him. I feel much more energized to go to work again tomorrow. But whenever I remember that, according to him, Bang Chan only treats me this way, it saddens me immediately. I want him to like me and see that I get my job done just like the rest of my colleagues, if not even better. I will try even harder so he will finally notice and see that I am an important worker in his store.
