Eric stopped by Rex's house just before evening. He was waiting in his car when Rex came out of the house. Time to follow this backstabbing cheater, Eric thought. As Rex pulled out of the driveway, Eric revved up the engine of his car. He stayed several cars behind as Rex drove through the city to meet up with Aiden. He knew his boyfriend's car like the back of his hand. There was no way he'd lose sight of it.
Rex stopped at a park. There was a hill at the end, overlooking the ocean. Eric loved this spot. It was a place his ex, Melody, showed him and one that he showed Rex.
Melody was good to him, but her father disapproved of the relationship and so, instead of speaking to him, Melody decided to ghost him. She texted a month later, telling him she wanted him back, but Eric already made up his mind. The hill reminded him of Melody, but it also brought him comfort. Ever since they broke up, he hasn't seen her by the hill. He decided that it held too many painful memories.
Eric had a good feeling as to where Rex would go. There was a secluded corner, where you had to walk along the cliff's edge to get there. It was the perfect spot for some peace and quiet, as well as some privacy with a lover. And Aiden was definitely Rex's lover.
Eric tried to have a date with Rex, but he said he was busy. He would never decline Eric. That's when he knew Aiden meant more to Rex than Eric did to him. If only Melissa wasn't there. Then, maybe, Aiden would be in the hospital and Eric and Rex would have a perfect date night.
Rex waited by the hill for Aiden, giving Eric the opportunity to sneak off to the secluded spot without anyone noticing. He's done this so many times that he could probably do it with his eyes closed.
Halfway across the cliff, Eric heard the voices of Aiden and Rex. They might have even kissed, but Eric didn't dwell on that thought. He was sixteen feet above the ocean. What a fall that would be. He tried to block the noise of Aiden and Rex and continued his way to the spot.
Just as he suspected, Rex told Aiden about the spot, and they proceeded to make their way over. Eric had enough time to find a good hiding spot behind the shrubs. A few minutes later, he heard the footsteps of Aiden and Rex. He wanted to yell, stop tainting this sacred place, but then he wouldn't accomplish anything. He had to get evidence. Eric took out his phone and pressed record.
Rex and Aiden were talking, saying some horny stuff to each other. Eric wanted to gag, but managed to maintain his composure. Surely he didn't sound like this with Rex. Then again, it would appear that Rex spent more time with Aiden then with him.
At some point, he saw both of them kissing. His lover kissing his enemy. The audacity. Eric was about to leap out of the shrubs and scare the shit out of his enemy and traitorous boyfriend when he heard Aiden speak.
"Why don't you stop hanging out with Eric?" Aiden asked. "You guys have nothing in common. Besides, you do all the work for him. What has he done to you in return?"
"I already told you, Eric is my best friend and I wouldn't have it any other way." Ouch. Best friend? Why not boyfriend? Then again, Eric doubts Rex told Aiden he was also dating him. But still. That hurt man.
Rex lies down on the grass. Aiden follows his example and props himself up with his elbow, facing Rex. "So, what do we do now?" he asks. Eric knew what was about to happen, and before both boys started tearing each other's clothes off, he jumped out of the shrubs.
"Rex, you backstabbing cheater!" Both boys screamed, one more high pitched them the other. Eric wasn't sure who that scream belonged to. Rex looked like he was ready to jump out of his skin while Aiden was seething with anger.
"What is he doing here?" Aiden asks.
"I don't know," Rex replied.
"I showed you this fucking spot, you imbecile," Eric yelled back. "How dare you cheat on me with this fucker!"
"Cheat on you? You're just best friends!" Aiden yells.
"We're boyfriend, or at least we were before you came along."
"Actually, Aiden asked me first," Rex intervened.
Eric stared at his boyfriend in shock. Words could not describe how furious he was with Rex at the moment. All this time, while he was alone, his boyfriend was fucking around with some other guy.
"We can work this out Eric," Rex said. "I can still date both of you. At separate times."
Eric wondered how red his face was. This was more than humiliating.
"Actually, no," Aiden spoke for the first time since the best friends were having their feud. "If you insist on dating this loser then I'm out of here. While you were gone, YeaYea has been filling me with pleasure." Without another word, Aiden stormed off back to the other side. Eric kind of hoped he would fall and drown, but to his chagrin, Aiden lives.
Rex was close to tears. He lost the love of his life. Eric glared at him with a look that would send Melissa and Maya crawling to their mothers. "Don't look at me like that," he said, tears falling down his cheeks.
"How exactly am I looking at you right now?" Eric asked, annoyance creeping into his voice.
"Dude, I just found out that my boyfriend has been banging with another guy behind my back."
Before Rex could say anything more, Eric interrupted him. "I could say the same thing about you," he yelled. He was pretty sure the people on the hill could hear him. "You cheat on me, not just as my boyfriend, but as my best friend with my mortal enemy! Do you have any sense of dignity? You know what, I'm done with you. Don't come to me at school. Go find a new best friend to date."
Eric stormed off, leaving Rex to choke in his sobs.
A/N: It was my besties who came up with the name YeaYea. It sucks but it sounded similar to what the guy's actual name is.
