Third POV:
Pansy stayed silent, her face unreadable as the weight of Lilith's confession settled between them. It was the kind of silence that filled the room, pressing down on Lilith's chest until her heart beat faster, each second dragging with anxious anticipation.
Finally, unable to bear it, Lilith whispered, "Pansy... please, say something."
Pansy blinked, her expression almost bewildered. "Are you... playing with me right now?"
Lilith's lips tightened, frustration mixing with her nerves. "Why would I joke about something like this?"
A heavy pause followed. Pansy's face softened, her eyes narrowing as she searched Lilith's face, as if trying to measure the truth in her words. "So... you're saying Tom Riddle, that Tom, is going to become some... Dark Lord? And you're the one who's supposed to stop him?" She spoke slowly, almost as though saying it out loud might help her make sense of it.
Lilith nodded, her throat tight. "It sounds ridiculous, I know. But Dumbledore was certain, he even showed me the prophecy. He said I'm destined to face him, that this is... what I'm meant to do."
Pansy shook her head, leaning back as she processed it all, her brows knitting together in thought. "That's... intense, Lilith. I mean, I knew Tom was a strange person, but this—" She exhaled, glancing away as if gathering her own thoughts. "I can't imagine what that feels like."
Lilith lowered her gaze. "It's... terrifying," she admitted, her voice barely a whisper. "I don't know what to do. And I don't know if I can actually stop him. But if I don't try..." She trailed off, unable to finish, the weight of that thought alone feeling impossible to voice.
Pansy's hand reached over and gently squeezed Lilith's. "You're not alone in this, Lilith. Whatever happens... I've got your back, okay?"
Lilith took a deep breath, the weight of the situation pressing down on her. "The day I got locked up with Tom in Hogsmeade," she began slowly, "and when intruder came inside the school, the prophecy just... disappeared. I'm suspecting they took it. I left it in the room."
Pansy frowned, her brow furrowing in confusion. "Wait, you mean it was inside this room?"
Lilith nodded, her heart racing. "Yeah."
Pansy's eyes widened. "But I put a charm on that door. No one who wasn't invited could get in."
Lilith blinked, taken aback. "You put a charm on the door? I didn't know about that."
Pansy looked frustrated, her hands running through her hair. "Then how did they get in? This doesn't make any sense."
Lilith could feel the tension rising, and she didn't have any answers. "I don't know, Pansy. But the fact that someone managed to break in... it's concerning. It's like the prophecy is fragile, you know? Like it could tear apart at any moment. That's why I'm so worried something might happen to it."
Silence fell between them, heavy and palpable. Lilith glanced up, her gaze catching Pansy mid-gulp, her expression reminiscent of a child caught red-handed.
"What's wrong?" Lilith asked, tilting her head slightly in curiosity.
Pansy hesitated, her eyes darting to the side before she finally spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "Was the prophecy hidden under the floor?"
Lilith narrowed her eyes, studying her friend's face. After a moment she nodded slowly.
Pansy cursed under her breath, her frustration bubbling to the surface. "Lilith, while I was putting the charm on my door, I also set up another one to alert me if something strange was happening in the room or the surrounding areas. Dumbledore requested us to do it because of the intruder."
