"Shorty!" I yell, running up to Josephine. She stands still and turns to face me.

She has her phone in her hand and is singing along with the lyrics videos of her Instagram reels.

"Where are you going?" I ask while wrapping my arm around her.

"The bakery. Are you coming with me?"

I give her a small nod.

We both start walking to the bakery.

"Shorty?" I start. When I try to get out my next words, Josephine slowly puts one finger on my lips, shushing me.

"I. Am. Not. Short."
Iiar. You may have grown a bit over the years, but you're still shorter than me.
"Stop calling me short."

"You. Are. But I'll stop for now. I wanted to ask you," I put my hand on her shoulder. She's still singing and dancing to the song.

"Will you stop that?"

She stops singing. But only for one sentence of the song.

"Josephine, I'm serious, stop. Stop dancing and singing. After I asked you my question, you can act like an ADHD doll again."

"Excuse you. I don't have ADHD. But okay, go ahead."

"I have been thinking about what you asked me."

"About visiting my mom?" She asks me, she's waiting for me to conform. I feel her shoulders tense under my hold.
Without her saying anything, I can see in her eyes that she still wants to go with me.

"Yes. I guess that when you asked me, you took me by surprise. But I've been thinking and I wanna be here for you."

"Do you wanna go tomorrow?"

"I was thinking today. I don't have school tomorrow, and neither do we have school on Friday. I don’t have anything today. "

My eyes widen, but Josephine doesn't see it.

I do have something today.

My mom and Rick are leaving to go on vacation to Thailand today, and they'll be away for three weeks.

Saying goodbye to my mom is just as important to me as being here for Josephine.

I relax and keep up a smile.

"Okay, we can go today. But how will I go back to the Grouphome? Oh, never mind, I'll just take the metro I usually take."

After buying a mini pizza for both of us, we start walking back to school.

"When do you wanna go? We can go right now. We still have ten minutes." Shorty asks with her mouth full. Only for her to spit out the bite she just took because 'It's too hot.'

"Will go after school. Then, you have time to focus on your work. And you suggesting visiting your mom right now would've never worked.
It's just enough time to go to the bakery, wait for the food, and walk back."

Evara, one of the girls at Put School, is holding the door open for Josephine and me.

"Hey J,"

When I first met her, she told me that her name means 'A gift of God.' And she really is a gift of God.

She's a very sweet girl and a very good friend.

Josephine walks over to Evara and gives her a tight hug, and I give Evara a smile.
