Carter was in his math class, the last part of his day.
"Can anybody tell me what the answer to this problem is?" asked his math teacher. Carter raised his hand.
"Isn't the answer 20?" The whole class laughed. "W-What did I get wrong?" Carter mumbled. This was how it always was in all his classes. His attempts to help out with anything are quite pitiful. He was very lucky to make it to his freshman year of high school."That doesn't matter, Carter! You'll always get it wrong!" Someone shouted. He doesn't pay any mind to anyone. He doesn't even know their names. So logically, when someone would heckle him like someone would to a comedian, he would ignore it.
The long minutes pass until the final bell rings. "See you tomorrow, class," the teacher says. Carter walks across campus. He always forgets where his locker is. He eventually finds it after three minutes. 19, 30, 05. He opens his locker, gathers his stuff, and exits the building as he begins to walk home.
"Watch it!" a girl yells, as Carter had bumped into her.
"Sorry, I'll be more careful next time, I promise..."
Carter mumbles. It wasn't fair. His life was a total mess as long as he can remember. He was inferior to everyone, and he knew it.
"Why can't you accept who you are, Carter?" His therapist tells him. Even though she didn't want to be around him, her paycheck made her say otherwise.
"I don't know! It's just not fair! I just want one moment of glory! It feels... impossible..!" He snaps. That's the same thing he says over and over again, and that is what Carter calls his daily routine. He knows he wants to change it, but it's hopeless. At least, it is to him.
