Eddie woke slowly the next morning, warm and content. He nuzzled into his pillow, pausing as his pillow moved and a light chuckle sounded.

His eyes snapped open, taking in a sleepy Buck smiling fondly at him. "Oh, that was real, you're really here," Eddie breathed, elation filling his chest.

"I'm really here Eds," Buck whispered, adoration bright smile on his face. Eddie reached forward, gently tracing Buck's lower lip with his finger.

He waited for the emotions to hit him, to see what Buck was feeling. But none came. It was only his bliss, his happiness, his love in his chest.

"Oh- it wore off," Eddie gasped, Buck frowning confused. "Huh?" He asked and Eddie flushed, hiding his face in Buck's side.

"What wore off?" Buck asked and Eddie sighed. "You know how you got that whole math thing from the lightning?" He asked carefully, still hiding his face.

"Yes...?" Buck trailed off and Eddie sighed. "Buck, we got struck by the same bolt of lightning. It traveled through you, down the ladder and hit me, I had the marks up to my elbows for a few weeks," he said quietly, holding out his left arm. He still had a couple small scars scattered up his arms and on his palms, faded and pale on his skin.

Buck traced one of the marks with his fingers, eyes wide. "I- I don't know why, but for the last four months, I've been able to feel your emotions every time we touched. But- it wore off, I can't feel you anymore," he said quietly and Buck frowned, tilting his head confused.

"If- you could feel my emotions this whole time, how come you didn't realise I've been hopelessly in love with you the entire time?" He asked and Eddie flushed dark.

"I- wasn't reading too deeply into the emotions. I never thought you could feel the same way, because, I'm just me, so I- didn't really see it until you said something. Karen's been wanting to smack me for months," he mumbled and Buck laughed incredulously.

"Eddie, I love you because you're you. There's no one more amazing than you in my eyes, except for maybe Christopher. I love you with all my heart but he's still my favorite Diaz," Buck said with a wink and Eddie laughed.

"But you've been promoted to second place, I'm sure Abuela would understand," Buck said with a grin and Eddie dropped himself up on his elbow. "Oh? So I can tell her I'm your second favorite now?" He teased and Buck poked him in the ribs.

Eddie squeaked and smacked his hand away as Buck laughed, shaking his head. "Don't you dare, Diaz, I still have some self preservation," he teased and Eddie grinned, making Buck roll his eyes.

"You know what, you're back to number three," Buck teased and Eddie pouted, blinking at him with wide eyes. Buck glanced at him and quickly looked away, closing his eyes tightly.

"Nope- no, don't do that, that's so unfair," Buck complained and Eddie laid his head on Buck's arm. "Don't do what?" He said innocently and Buck groaned, making Eddie grin.

"The baby cow eyes and the pout, I cave every time," Buck grumbled and Eddie raised an eyebrow. "Baby cow eyes?" He asked and Buck opened his eyes to grin sheepishly at him.

"You're Texan, you've seen those puppy dog eyes baby cows do. Big, brown and beautiful," he said sweetly and Eddie flushed, making Buck smile fondly.

Eddie rolled over and grabbed his phone, checking the time. "9am, Christopher doesn't want to be picked up until about 2 because there's an event going on on that game of his at noon? So we've got some time," Eddie mused, Buck humming playfully.

"I need a shower and breakfast, I don't know about you," Eddie said and Buck grinned. "We should save water," he said with a wink and Eddie rolled his eyes with a laugh.
