"Gold, or silver? Or...Some other shitty metal?"
He'd been asking odd questions lately out of the blue, unprompted at the most random of times.
"How the hell does one measure the width of a finger..."
"What, for a ring? You planning to propose?" You'd snort from your cosy spot on the couch. Hardly sparing you a glance, he scribbled something down onto torn parchment sat atop his desk.
"Unless you don't want a ring to be proposed to with. I could find a pebble for you."
His sarcasm, usually endearing, made you choke on your tea.
